Can't say Frappe does it for me. However, years ago I was served chilled "RED" wine on holiday and now I have to have it on my hols. Maggie at Theodora always has a bottle in the fridge for me - well that sorts the first hour! Loving your posts Amy.

As an established nutter, I always prefer my wine chilled, whatever colour. I'm not a great wine fan, but I can't resist Mavrodaphne and buy it in Skiathos.

Oh dear I am having problems with my copy and paste facility again :-( Press and hold until the choices come up and select Copy. Double tap in the text box and select Paste. Apologies Amy, it's so easy here at my desktop, complete with a mouse. Keep trying please, we're all rooting for you.

Dennis the copy part is fine, it's the paste function that is hit and miss! I appreciate your tips but in all honesty I think it is the tablet that is the problem. I don't want to boor you with the details but no matter how many times I tapped and held, double tapped (which resulted in a zoom) refreshed, logged off and on again, your head would spin!

End of Day 11
I arrived at the Kohyli at around 8.30 pm as the driver of the bus stopped to fill up with petrol just after leaving the terminus. It turned out that it was a birthday celebration dinner for one of the holidaymaker's so we were 14 in total. I had met five of the guests on my first night in Skiathos.
I ordered the aubergine with oil starter for my first course which arrived with a nice plump black olive in the centre of the dish. It was really good and such a reasonable size! :-):-) My main course was sea bream, delish. I passed the salad that came with it down the table for someone else to enjoy as the fish came with half a potato and was quite filling.
I also passed on the birthday cake which was a chocolate cake covered in a mousse type cream and decorated with strawberries!
After dinner some of us called in the Iguana for a nightcap and around 12.15 am I went to the bus stop with the intention of flagging down a taxi. However, the last bus from Koukanaries arrived, so hopped on that and found myself the only passenger.

Day 12 - 26 May
I've had a really lazy day today. After a breakfast of yoghurt and strawberries, I decided to go for a walk up papadiamantis and through some of the lanes running off. I ended up in the old port and called in to see Spiros to pay for my coffees from Saturday. Whilst there I decided to have another and before long ordered the hummus and the garlic bread.
I had thoughts of catching the water taxi to Kanapitsa but that left whilst I was eating lunch. There was a little "hawking" going on between the day trip boats but all very pleasant and nowhere near a hard sell.
After paying my bill, I walked over to the bus terminus and as luck would have it, one was ready to leave! (I will post the timetable in the general discussion section if not already there).
When I arrived at Kanapitsa, I spent a hour at the taverna reading before I went on the beach. Another hour later I walked back to the bus stop, turned around and there was the bus! Perfect end to a perfectly lazy day! :-):-)

End of Day 12
Tonight's choice of restaurant was the Mandraki. It was a good choice! I ordered the garlic mushrooms to start followed by the sardines and the usual glass of red and bottle of water. The first item to arrive was an appetizer of to tiny bowls, one containing black olive paste, the other a mayonnaise dip (at least that is what I have decided to call it) accompanied by a rusk type breadstick coated in seeds. Very nice :-) The next items to arrive were my wine, water and the bill!!!! I decided to let that one go. The third item was two rounds of toasted bread. All that was needed now was my first course.

The mushrooms arrived, sliced, with a zigzag of sauce and best of all, just a normal sized portion! I dipped one in the sauce and tasted. Oh my, I could not quite work out the taste. Seemed to be a mix of balsamic vinegar with a smokey barbecue taste. Whatever it was, it was delicious but of course there was only a smattering of it! :-( It is safe to say that the first course was a hit.
Before I had finished I was joined at the table by three cats. One, a big fat white cat with a coloured tail, who sat a respectable two feet away, the second who plunked itself at the side of my chair, the spitting image of Felix from the TV ads looking expectantly at me with green eyes, and the third, which was definitely the best, a small white cat with patches of colour and a perfect grey ring of fur around its mouth that looked like a big smile. Of course this last one was the cheekiest and boldest of the three!

The sardines arrived with a chunk of lemon and two lettuce leaves and we all started to enjoy, the cats got the heads and tails and I had the rest. Then suddenly four black & white cats came pelting up the lane and made a beeline for my table. My three companions scattered before regrouping, and it was then a case of the quickest being the luckiest! :-):-)
Once the meal was over, the cats disappeared and I was given a complimentary small bowl of an almond paste sweet. Had to leave as too sweet for me.
Cost of meal 19 euros plus 2 euro tip.

Hi Amy, loving reading your reports really sets the scene I could almost taste those sardines! 4 weeks today we will be sitting on the plane at Gatwick, can't wait!
The prices of your meals sound very reasonable, even better because of the exchange rate this year. Keep up the good work and enjoy the rest of your time on Skiathos.

Hi Dennis, it's point 5 that's the problem. It works occasionally, especially if I have fully charged the tablet and it's been off for hours. If the keyboard had the control facility I probably wouldn't have this problem. Perhaps the bin is the best place for it! :-):-)
