But the actual interior is something completely different. It is lined with shelves holding bottles of wines, baskets holding interestingly shaped bottles of different coloured liquors, jars of jams and toffees, the odd vase and ornaments, the coffee machine with the cups and saucers, spirits and miniature bottles containing the same but also wines, the whole wall space covered. So if you are looking for a coffee to finish your evening or even a nightcap, you may want to pop in one night.

End of Day 13
I am afraid I have nothing to report really! I was posting whilst lying on my very comfortable bed and after 13 wonderful sunny days a few late nights and early rises, the inevitable happened, I fell asleep!!!! I woke up after 10.00 pm, still feeling tired, so dinner was a banana, and I crawled under the duvet!!! :-):-)

Day 14 - 28 May My last full day in Skiathos :-( -:-( Was up at 7.00 am and opened my balcony doors in anticipation of another sunny day despite the weather forecast! My tablet is currently stating that it is cloudy and 19 degrees. What it isn't stating is that rain clouds have completed covered the sky and there is very wind. Locals are walking around in thick winter jackets but some of the women are braving the weather in cardigans, so perhaps there is reason to be more optimistic!! Sat out on the balcony with my tea, and a little quilt around my shoulders thinking it felt more like 10 degrees, and here comes the rain!!

Oh no, I am sure the sun will soon come out for you Amy. I am sitting looking out of my office window on the North Norfolk coast, its bright but cold I know where I would rather be!

Hi exgreekgod, unfortunately this is going to be in for the day and perhaps tomorrow too. Nothing for it but to get my packing done then layer up and go for a walk. Might check out Papadiamantis House and a few of the shops today and drink lots of coffee to keep warm! :-):-)

Amy, thank you very much for your very detailed postings and I hope that you have fallen in love with Skiathos and its people, as so many of us have. It is a real pity that the weather has taken a turn, but as I always say, at least it is Greek rain. Have an enjoyable last day on the Rock and i'll look forward to reading your postings again next year! ? Bob

Concur with others, been great reading the posts of your trip Amy and it spurred me on to finally get round to booking an overnight on Skopelos which I haven't done on previous Skiathos trips (only been twice mind, hardly a boomeranger at all!). Hope the weather perks up for your last full day and have a safe trip back to blighty.

I agree with the others, its got me right in the mood. I have just printed off a calendar stuck it on my wall and marked off the days left and rung her indoors up to get the cases down, bit premature but what the hell! Have a great last day.

Vera won't let me get the cases down yet. Doing that always gets me even more wound up, but she has everything planned and timed and it's not cases down time yet. I'm not good with planning - she said the other morning when I asked about cases "What T-Shirts would you take?" and I got as far as Mosquitoes and Superman before she humphed and pointed out I haven't got a Superman T-Shirt now. How many would I take? Undies? Socks? Shorts? Hopeless, but Vera has them all ready in a pile - not the creasables though, they're hanging up. She also has a shopping list ready for when we land. Amazing. The whole business confuses me. Before I met Vera, I used to go by myself to Samos - took 13 pairs of underpants and 13 pairs of socks, three T-Shirts and three shorts. One towel and a swimming costume which Vera cut up soon after she saw it! So Vera sorts us out. I always sort of cough slightly and mumble "Yes" when the checkin desk person asks if I've packed my cases myself!

Biggest mistake I used to make was taking too many clothes. I started rationalising it all about 8 years ago and for the last 5 or 6 holidays I've actually gone a full suitcase size down. It was touch and go in Tenerife this April though as the evenings (and some days) were actually quite so there were times I could have done with thicker shirts! Hopefully the 'proper' holiday clothes can come out for the next Skiathos trip back end of August. Not allowing myself to count days down, too far off yet you drive yourself nuts.

I have decided this year as we only have 15kgs allowance to keep it very basic. We always take too much and never wear half of it! We are going to buy beach towels out there and leave them behind, 2 or 3 shirts and tees', no socks, one pair of budgie smugglers and do the pant rotation trick! I did offer to share with the wife but she declined!

If you are guaranteed reasonable weather it's surprising what you can get for 15kg with lightweight cotton stuff, I've done that sort of limit and still been able to take enough so I barely wore the same thing twice in the evenings over a week. If I was doing a fortnight I'd probably have to wash a couple of daytime shirts but that would be it. They rarely weigh your hand luggage so as long as you don't look like quasimodo hauling a rucksack to the check-in you can usually pack a few weightier items in there.
