Looking for any update re beaches/sunbeds/parasols Our favourite is Mandraki. Please can someone confirm if/when sunbeds are available/likely to be available & if Taverna is open. We're there for 2 weeks from 5 July.

The whole beach licence paraphernalia is a joke this year. I have heard that the licences will not be allocated until June 24th. Two weeks ago I did not see any sunbeds anywhere apart from one or two strewn around the beach. I have been on Mandraki today & they are up and running with beds and brollies. I was on Elias two days ago & there were no organised sunbeds or brollies. I believe the Mayor has tried to put a stop to the beds until the licences have been issued but most are now beginning to ignor him. The tavernas are open

24 June sounds promising as we don't arrive until 5 July. We don't like "too organised" nor do we like too many sunbeds all lined up in rows. But we do like the option to hire a bed & brolly for a lazy day on the beach with regular trips to the taverna for essential supplies! I can almost hear Mandraki calling me Does anyone know if there's likely to be a taverna of any kind on Kolios this year? The bag is always packed just in case!

Thanks for the info. This is them drilling holes for the parasols on Small Banana, so things seem to be happening now.

Seems to be the same on most beaches, if not established then they are busy erecting the parasols so everything will be in place very soon

Did someone mention Mandraki? that was one of my fave spots last year, they do a great feta with bread for lunch at that little shack.

kevb, Mandraki is one of my fave beaches. Just love the wine served in the little tin jugs on the beach (my profile pic!) And the feta salads with "patatas" And just the general laid back feel. Can't wait to visit early next month.

What's the story on hire rates for beds and brollies? Is it still €8 for 2 beds and a brolly?

€8 is pretty good. Do you know if this is the same price for Troulos beach?

Usually the same across the island, the rate is set by the Municipality.

Yes it was when I was on it a couple of weeks ago, but I think all beaches must charge the same, laid down by the Municipality.
