"What's lucky?" I hear you ask. I'll tell you. It's lucky that we are going back to Skiathos in 40 days' time. Why? Well, because Mama Mia was on ITV tonight and we watched it and it got us all longing to be back there. And so we shall be, in 40 days. I just hope I can persuade Vera to let us go see it in the proper open air cinema again, nothing like it (I'm just a softypants really).

Nothing wrong watching it Dennis, when it first came out my husband refused to go and watch it, then I got dvd and was watching it and he While pretending not to watch) enjoyed it, hes seen many times since. The last time was in july when we were there about 11-30 at night, mike at oasis had it on ao his big pull down screen watching from pool bar in big comfy settees. Watching there outdoors makes it more enjoyable, everyone singing along. My step daughter arrived Friday with her partner for her first visit to skiathos on our recommendation staying at oasis. She mentioned to mike that they were going to see it at the cinema after the mamma mia boat trip and he said save your money i'll put it on here for you. She has been face timing me on the phone bouncing with excitement, they are loving it, already had some good meals, booked boat trips, explored pap street. She hasn't been to Greece since corfu, and halkidiki with her dad when she was little and is really loving it as his her partner who is hard to persuade to go away so I think we have two more potential boomerangers !!

The only REALLY good way to watch Mama Mia is at the open air cinema in town - no brainer. If you haven't, you don't understand what I mean.

Before going to Skiathos tried to get hubby, son, daughter and son-in-law on board to go see Mamma Mia! with mixed results and not much enthusiasm. Hubby did not really want to go again, but did not say too much, daughter rather reluctantly agreed(possibly hoping we would be so wrapped up in other things that there would not be time... son just said no. Once there though I managed to get a more positive response-even from my son. So we quickly got ourselves ready, into town and into the queue (well me to be accurate)for the Thursday showing. I am sure you can guess.....SOLD OUT! However I could have tickets for Saturday. Had to go and find the gang to see if that was OK. Well we all went and it was great fun and a great atmosphere and I think all would do it again. Picture quality was really good too and someone was in checking the sound. I would have been so disappointed if I had missed it. Open air cinema-magic!

If you can't get to Skiathos to see it come to South Wales! Our local cinema is showing it outdoors for free on August 28th. We cant go as we will be in Skiathos! www.markethallcinema.co.uk/#!open-air-film-screening/c8iw

Well, we are near "South Wales" - it would only cost about £50 to cross the bridge and stay at Merthyr Travelodge, so I considered it. I was OK with bring your own chairs and the picture of viewers wearing parkas and rain hoods, but then I saw the bottom line - "Please note this is an alcohol free event". So, sorry, but I'm out!

It's winding down a bit by end of August so there are a few reasonable deals. In fact this year I've paid less than the previous visits in 2012 and 13. However it's at the Koukias apts in Troulos so I wouldn't gamble on somewhere with such mixed reviews if it wasn't fairly cheap. I've already spent some of the money I've 'saved' by booking a night away on Skopelos in the middle of the holiday ;-)

Those reviews I've read seem just like so many others - generally very favourable, with a small number of dissatisfied visitors. I usually find the dissatisfied ones are the sort of people I wouldn't want to be near on holiday. I think you'll enjoy it.

Know what you mean re reviews, first trip in 2012 (solo) was at the Caravos in Kouk and that has some shockers, but my room was fine and for the money I really couldn't find serious fault with it. As long as the animal noise doesn't get too bad at the Koukias I'll have no problem (light sleeper) earplugs will be packed!

Not long back and looking for a cheap week at end of September (and I do mean cheap) so hope we can get something with reasonable accommodation. Be interesting to know others experiences. However we have been spoilt a bit at Diamond Apartments in Kolios last 4 visits but cannot afford to do flight then accommodation so soon after getting back

Olympic prices are an absolute joke for mid - end September, particularly when you bear in mind how little they pay accommodation owners.
