Day Eleven
Wednesday continued
Decided I would go check out "God's country" sorry, Dennis' hideout. Caught the bus to stop 20. Entered at the back and settled down for the conductor. Automated announcement first in Greek then English for BS 17! No conductor. OK, pay the driver when I get of at BS 20.
First I checked out the beach, very nice, then back up the road and down the lane opposite. Realised that it was only taking me to different accommodations, so retraced my steps back to the main road. By now the sun. Was out and quite warm so off came the cardi and on went the suntan cream whilst sat on a bench. Continued walking past BS 19 and on to BS 18. Checked out the big supermarket there and continued on my way. I had done the walk to and from BS 18 last year but was surprised that it did not seem as long this time.
Arriving back at AP, called in at Jimmy's for a drink. Got chatting to Dimitri and inevitably conversation turned to the Greek economy and how bad things were. However, he was lucky that all his apartments were fully booked up unlike a lot around so in quite a lucky position. He is Sith Olympic so they must be better at matching plane seats to their accommodations!
Back to complex, chatted to a few guests, then off to get ready for town.
Timed it well for bus, arriving 30 seconds before it did and a seat as well! Arrived at Gin Fish early, nothing for it but to order a glass of red and wait for my dinner companions! The wine came with a dish of crisps and a dish of fruit! Very nice. My friends arrived, ordered drinks and we enjoyed a catch-up. They asked me where I would like to eat and I chose the Mouria as I was really looking forward to their baked, stuffed fish.
At the restaurant we ordered he tzatziki and village cheese dips to share, one fish souvlaki and two baked stuffed fish. Waiter, one moment please! NOOOOOOOOOOO! Came back, sorry baked fish finished! Grrrr!!!!!!!! The yorkshireman with us thought that was hilarious and we changed our orders to a beef souvlaki and a lasagne. We also ordered a jug of red and a large water.
The meals arrived, he gloating over his fish dish and me looking at my lasagne, longingly willing it to change shape and texture. Unfortunately, it didn't! Bill came to 63 euros.
Caught the midnight bus back but a real nip in the air. Milky coffee at the bar very welcome.
Sat down and chatted with guests and there was the grey cat, on the knee of one of them, very contentedly. Very tired by that time so said my good night's and headed to studio. Just got over the bridge and the little cat joined me and walked me back. Sat at the door as I opened it and then straight in before I could stop him. I am sure he was looking for a warm place to stay the night. Sorry puss, put him out to find another bed for the night!
