Lol Lol!! Obviuosly refering to my manicured finger nails! Just thought I'd test the water to see the comments! Mad Panic this evening Treason - "Should I have bought a card for my wife to be??" Should he? Well he has now Phew! So, all packed & ready. Just been chatting to my sis, flying with her family from Birmingham in the morning (we're Manchester) She's a bit concerned about the landing! First time to Skiathos. Sit by the window I said. NO!! She doesn't like to watch. I do! Anyway, here's wishing safe flights to all. (Might have to pay excess baggage!! )

Fabulous check in. Still can't believe the baggage weight for the 4 of us was exactly 120kg. OK so there was a little bit of bag swapping as the brides bother only had 15kg of his 30kg allowance!! Hope he's suitable dressed for the occasion! Lol!
TC from Manchester, over an hour late due to "spillage" in the hold. (At least we hadn't boarded like the ones travelling from Birmingham) Think it could have been fuel by the smell for the first half hour. No issues getting the boxed wedding dress on board, it fitted in the overhead compartment. Phew! (And I'm told it also houses all the essential, Greek translated paperwork)
We surprised the groom as we'd booked x leg room seats (he's 6' 3") He was suitable impressed. Then we were surprised my mother of the bride who'd ordered champagne! First emotions kicked in for me (Tissues!) Soon people round us cottoned on to the forthcoming wedding. Lots of "oohs & ahs" More tissues.
Taxi to Theodora €20. The others picked up hire cars & after lots of meeting & greeting we checked in to our fabulously renovated studio. Absolutely delighted:) No more need of suction shower head holder. Then a quick visit to meet the Welsh down at the Hermes, never been up there before & thought it very nice.
The evening was a walk into Pareskevi to descend on Jimmy's, party of 14 made extremely welcome. And after night caps in Theodora bar, no idea what time we went to bed.

Well Mrs H, how did you get on with the luggage? Any excess required? Do you have wifi at Theodora or do you have to pop in to Xanthi, with the wonderful Matina and Bill? Bob.

Treason didn't have a card? First the shirts still with pins in, now no card. Worra plonker! I take it he hasn't been married before. Mind you, I blame some of it on the mother, she should have wised him up. Hasn't she any other sons she's married off before?
I've had my nails done by Stamatia this morning. First finger - a spider, then a red star on pinky and a blue star on middle finger. She claims they'll last a month!

Saturday Very warm & a little overcast. Could be a storm in the making. Early trip to Manos, local supermarket for milk & fresh bread. Coffee on the balcony overlooking the valley of olive groves listening to cicadas in the trees, hens, goats....... I'm back at Theodora. Planning a trip to town this morning meeting up with my sister & the Welsh. Their first visit so it has to be lunch at the Bourtzi. Treason & his bride have a meeting the wedding planner. Later, well we arrived in town just after 10 & had coffee at Arconchitos after a stroll down Pap street. The coffee was extended to a beer, thunder, lightening, rain & another beer! Met up with sis & had another walk to Driftwood ( just love this shop) & think we made it to the Bourtzi about 4ish. (Denniswere you there?) Surprisingly no more rain. Still think there's more to come though. Back for a shower before heading off to meet up with the family. The menfolk (except my non-sporting OH) apparently have to watch a game of football tonight !! Looks like it's going to be on everywhere The familam loved the hospitality at Arconchitos for the football. Me thinks Gregory & Costas will get their bonus! (Does it work like that?) Table for 5 then 10 then 20+ ! We arrived back at 8ish & had a glass of wine with troops. Blue House Art...... Was treated to an amazing necklace (well it is my birthday next week) Where to eat? LO&LA were amazingly accommodating & within 10 mins had sorted our party of 12! JLS!! Just Love Skiathos

Morning Di, Blue House can be accessed from the back street ( can't begin to explain where!) or from the old port before rock & roll steps. Beaufful hand made jewellery. Have a look on their FB page. Just sat on the balcony again listening to "my Skiathos" hens, chickens etc" JLS Enjoy your day xx

IT certainly sounds as though you have got off to a great start Tre. Your mention of Manos reminded me of the "alarm clock" I had at Demetris as Manos senior always had a good cough first thing in the morning that seemed to fill the valley! The things that memories are made of. With such a big party I'm sure that the tavernas will all be keeping an eye out for you! Now come on, bite the bullet and sidle up to Dennis, next time you see him. If you don't he might develop a complex! I have it on good authority that he doesn't bite! Bob

Monday, 8am. A cloudless sky The storm never reappeared yesterday & although there was some early cloud yesterday it was a beautiful day. Spent the day by the fabulously renovated Theodora pool. All sunbeds now have complementary towels. Nice touch. Treason was on driving duties as his bride & mother in law needed to shop in town for "wedding things" After such a lazy day we just about managed a walk to Kolios beach taverna for dinner. Couldn't believe the transformation. Last month when we dropped by it a sad wreck but in typical Skiathos style it's now up & running & serving delightful seafood. (Ladies if you do lunch there from the beach, please take a towel (or preferably a cushion!!) those seats are not the most comfortable) So, planning a day at the beach today with the Welsh. It won't be a lazy day as it seems I've agreed to help out with the children Just deciding which beach? 6 sleeps to the wedding......

Lovely reading your daily blog, will be thinking of you on the 3rd, it truly is special to get married on Skiathos. It's hard to believe that we are approaching the 10th Anniversary of our Skiathos Wedding on 4th July although ours was on a much smaller scale, just the 2 of us but still had all the dreaded paperwork to wade through! Looking forward to more of your holiday/wedding diary - not long till we are back....might bump into you in AP/ Kolios

Oh dear, driving Mrs-Treason-to-be and future mother in law to get wedding things sounds ominous. Did I get this wrong and it wasn't actually all arranged some time ago and they didn't have 30kg baggage allowance?
The best thing to do is tell him it's not too late to change his mind and avoid what looks like a future of bad stuff!

Monday 27 June
Clear blue skies. Perfect day. I actually cooked breakfast! Knowing that I can get freshly laid (sometimes) at Manos, I brought my Lakeland Silicon egg poachers. Poached eggs on toast. So it was off to Vromolimnos beach to meet the Welsh family. Sneaked a lift down with Treason. Busier than I thought but still delightful. The sea has warmed up nicely since our visit last month. The family really weren't expecting the location to be so perfect for the wedding. All admitted it was beautiful. We returned via the pathway over the top & steps down to Kolios bay. Easier journey on foot than via the road. A walk in the evening to Pareskevi to dine at Kipos, only been open 27 days. Very good & reasonably priced! 4 starters, olives, baked feta with honey, meatballs & garlic bread. Followed by Beef stifado, 2 kleftikofs & lamb shank. A couple of jugs of house wine; €86. Plus complementary deserts & a glass of something very sweet. Kipos can be found on the same track as Avli, up by Iguana supermarket. The bride her Mum spent most of the day doing wedding prep which included a visit to Hanna the hairdresser. Result, both very impressed & now confident of wedding hair for all. Oh & apparently the excitement over the football will die down !

Tuesday 28 June, Lovely walk to Mandraki. A very wild Mandraki. Fantastic waves. Legendary "patatas" 20 min walk back (best time yet!) Draught Strongbow in Agustera. And then the black clouds appeared. Made it back to Theodora only catching a few drops of rain. After a much needed shower to remove Mandraki dirt it was "shall we shan't"'we go to town. We did! Taxi picked us up down the lane.... All five of us!! 4 adults in the back. What a !! Lovely meal at O Batis (first visit) Finished the night at Arconchito sorting Friday's hen do....... 5 Meze plates €35. Fell asleep on the bus. Wednesday Went to see the wedding planner for the bride to check final arrangements. Had to call to the florists but they were closed! (Only in Skiathos) The bride getting stressed!! Then off to airport to meet more family arriving for the big Day. Later, Theodora for Greek Salad & an afternoon chilling by the pool. Lots of "hairdressing" planning. Head off to town, to eat at Ricchie & Poveri, Really good, will defo go again. 3Days to go......

Im so enjoying reading this, ive only just found it but ive seen your other posts im sure it will be a lovely day, i'll be travelling 3rd july and not sure what wi -fi will be like at hotel, but im sure i can catch up with yoursa nd dennis' s adventures. you will see from the time of this im having one of my insomnia moments, my head is full of things remembering to pack, last minute things to buy, arrangements for dog, transporting husband to last hand physio before hols. my second son gets married next may, wish it was in skiathos, my eldest married last october. Also have husbands daughter getting married next year too, i feel that may be stressful, as arguments already about bridesmaid etc, keep trying to persuade her to do it in skiathos and avoid stress. Hope your sons remembered a wedding present for the bride, if he left pins in shirt and forgot card ! sounds like my 3 sons ! A trip to that shop you got your necklace from may be in order. My husband bought me a welsh gold , welsh lovespoon necklace 10 years ago last week for a surprise present. No doubt all the welsh family will be watching the game tomorrow, theres a very funny (and rudejoke ) going round the media sites about welsh reaction to english defeat which i better not repeat on here. Hope you manage to meet up with dennis , try an early morning swim on troulos beach !
