We are visiting for the 1st time in June. My wife is coeliac so needs to have follow a gluten free diet. Are there any tavernas that specifically cater for gluten free? Cheers.

I really don't have an answer for you but sure somebody will, Lots of green and healthy food available, plenty of fish which I am guessing is gluten free (stand to be corrected) I have a friend with same condition and appreciate how difficult it can be

I can't help either. I knew somebody with that condition who visited corfu regularly and simply his wife supervised what he ordered in tavernas.

Cheers anyway guys. Just to make things more fun the Duchess doesn't eat fish. She's used to surviving on a lot of Greek salad and plain chicken, it would just be nice for her to have a few more options. I know Kassandra Bay hotel do gluten free and I've e-mailed Ricchi e Poveri who apparently do GF, but as we are there for a fortnight, and will be eating out every day, a few more venues would be good.

If you can get a translation into Greek of what coeliacs can't eat, I'm sure chefs at the tavernas will do their utmost to cater for your wife. My friend is gluten intolerant, but was fine in Rhodes. Am sure the Duchess will be able to have souvlaki, BBQ meats etc - Koziakas in town is great for meat! In the UK the mass catering packs (eg grated cheese)can sometimes use flour as a separator, but I would think the Greeks use more fresh produce than us. Enjoy!
