balddave; too hot to shop? Interpreted probably means himself would agree to any purchase to get back on the bar ASAP!! Bring it on! Lol! Kate, Amy, thank you for your coments re Theodora website pics. Feeling proud ☺️
11 July Just another day in paradise. Shall we walk to the beach? Why should when we have the pool virtually to ourselves! Heaven. Dozed & Swam most of the day. Fabulously peaceful. Also confirmed our booking for next year! Early shower in the hope of shopping in town before evening meal. 6:45pm, will we get on the bus? Already decided that we'd accept a passing taxi but no, the bus stopped. Had an "arm pit to arm pit" journey to bus stop 4. Purchase made at Driftwood, meander down to the port & €6 taxi to our favourite eatery on the island. Yes, we have been doing doing our best to try a new place daily but we just have to visit Taverna Anatoli. Kalyvia area. Not disappointed. The view from here is down to the airport & over to Glossa on Skopelos; Glossa lights up in the shape of a "fish" as the sun sets. Anatoli never disappoints. It's not "posh" Rustic would be my description. Sesame prawns, Prawn Saganaki, Lobster, Salmon in vodka with Linguine... just ...1st class.
Another day poolside as basically it was so quiet & peaceful we really didn't want to move. New people coming in today turned out to be guests whose company we've enjoyed previous years so a couple of lunchtime welcome drinks were in order. Early "sardine bus" into town at 6pm to join the sunset cruise on board the Eleni boat to Tsougria. About a 20 min crossing on reasonably calm water. Didn't bother eating on Tsougria as we found the wasps a tad annoying. Fabulous sunset though & the wine wasn't too bad! Lovely to actually meet Di & Mick & people who you think you know through FB postings & sharing Skiathos holiday highlights. Wonderful evening. Once home I'll post some photos (if I can remember how!!) Later at Archontikos I actually had a pizza! Totally not like me at all. Never mind thinking " pizza in skiathos?" I just never order pizza anywhere. But do you know what I really enjoyed it. Well I ate about 3 pieces & shared the rest out. Shared a taxi back with another couple staying at Theodora & ended up sharing a little more wine........... Final day looming 😰
13 /14 July Have we really been here 2 weeks? Apparently so. Decided to get up early & do most of the packing as we had a lunch date. After an hour by the pool we left for Paradise bar on the beach at bus stop 10. Met up with boomers we've got to know over a few years. Perfect location for our final lunch. Afternoon pool side sharing drinks with friends who WEREN'T going home! Then they all joined us for a farewell meal at Jimmy's. More drinks at Theodora while conducting the end of holiday "auction" 😂 So who does this: "who can use some aftersun? Not worth taking it home" "Anyone want half a jar of coffee?" TBH we had a ball. Never laughed so much. Wasn't laughing when the alarm went off at 4am 😰 5am taxi & 2 turn up within minutes. Did think it odd that first taxi dropped someone off?! Started to load bags when "our" driver gets out. A few words exchanged, bags transferred to our pre booked taxi, airport, €22 The best airport experience ever given that it was empty apart from 40+ passengers for our short flight to Athens. Took off & landed on time. Back through security for connection to Manchester. Just about an hour for a coffee before boarding. Think we took off about half hour late. Another great flight with good service. A bit late getting into Manchester, bags soon off & in the taxi with half hour of landing ☔️🌧🌫💦😨
On a brighter note; it's always good to board that plane knowing you've already booked to return 😎
