Glad you had another enjoyable trip Dennis. I saw the video of your drive to Kechria on facebook. Not sure I'd be brave enough to give it a go, still haven't hired a car on any Skiathos trip yet though with only 7 nights (and I like to fit a boat trip in) it's often not really feasible. Got back from Kefalonia last Thursday, had a car for 5 days there as its a much bigger island than Skiathos. Even with 2 of the 5 days put aside as 'not driving very far' days we still knocked up 365km. You posh things, you. Hiring a car with a working speedometer and odometer. You've obviously got enough cash to go buy us a new webcam!

Haha, just re-read my post! We're lazy, not ladies!!!!!
No, Dennis - would only hire a car for the middle part of the holiday, though it would be useful for the stony track up to the studio. I'll have to see if we can do a deal!

We were in walking distance of only 2 places to eat so an extended car hire was pretty much a necessity, I wasn't going to make mum walk 30-40 mins in to the nearest large resorts in that heat even in the evening. I don't think I did too bad with the car, 142 euro for 5 days in July was as cheap as I found anywhere in the area we stayed. The company everyone was hyping on Tripadvisor wanted over 200 for a similar car on same dates!

Thats a good price, Kev. I think we paid about the same a couple of years ago when we stayed behind the Myrtia & Paul wasn't very mobile. We used the car hire company that has an office in Kouk as well as town - excellent service. Others were far more £££

Final final final update. Bad news and good news.
Bad news - I put on 2lbs. That's a real disappointment when I was hoping my exercising would shed loadsa weight.
Good news 1. The butternut squash plants have at long last, after this last week, decided to grow squashes instead of just empty flowers. It is beginning to look as though I'm a butternut squash expert as I am fast losing count of all the developing squashes.
Good news 2. Really good news, this one. As I had a word with my fishes yesterday, a small frog appeared and swam skittery quickly round the edge of the pond into hiding under a plant. That means that one of my tadpoles survived and it may by now be big enough to be too big to be swallowed by the Koi fishes. Doubtful - they are very big Koi, but possible.
Good news 3. I picked one fig yesterday and another this morning. Should be loads before we go back to Skiathos in September.
