Well here goes for a bit of feedback.
Friday, 4am wakeup and the usual last-minute panic to get out of the door ( have we locked the cat in!) 3 hour drive to Gatwick with the usual delays and a huge bagdrop snake that took half an hour. Everyone boarded all ready to go and then the Captain made the usual announcement due to traffic our slot was put back an hour! Eventually we were about 30 minutes late, decent flight till 15 minutes out " thunderstorm ahead could be severe turbulence" gulp! Luckily we seemed to alter course and flew round it although this put us in the wrong place and we made some unusual last-minute course changes including flying round and across Skopelos then out to sea as if we were making the usual approach then a huge turn back up the way we came and finally landed from the North, everyone applauded!
Quickly through the airport and arrived at the Myrtia about 8.15.
This place is lovely, it's our 2nd stay here and it seems even better than the first, beautiful setting, really friendly and helpful staff and a lovely taverna.
Had a few cold ones and a quick kleftico and off to bed.
Saturday, this is my mum's first time and I think she has already been bitten by the Skiathos bug! Stocked up on the usual stuff at the supermarket and then walked through the gate next to the bus stop and across the nature reserve to the bridge, a lovely breeze was blowing off the sea, the beautifull sweeping arc of Koukouknaries as wonderful as I remember it! Had a light lunch, Greek salad etc and walked back to the hotel for a swim and a couple of cold ones, got to keep the fluids going!
Dinner at the hotel, meat meze etc and then 'V' ( the brilliant manager/owner of the Myrtia) put Mamma Mia on the outside projector screen, a great finish to a lovely day.
Hopefully more to come as i have to drag myself away to my sunbed!.........
