Hi everyone... Im so sorry I didnt keep up with our holiday story whilst I was actually there, the truth is I wasnt feeling very well from the start and found it quite difficult to actually be there and not back home due to a personal situation back home (cant post this on facebook as dont want very well meaning people/friends to refer to it on there in case family members pick up on it?).. anyway I will try and fill in blanks here if I can.. after the fiasco at the airport re being put in wrong seats, Dennis you would be proud of me, I collared the TUI rep and cut a long story short we got a full refund in cash for both journeys ( of the seat booking cost) after I proved her wrong when she showed me my booking on her system as only booking seats on return journey?? As if?? Anyway onto our adventures... we made good use of having our jimny for the duration, went to the Monastery where yet another fiasco happened.. you people who have been up there will know there are little rooms upstairs and downstairs that are a bit unclear if private or not? Well recently Ive seen a photo posted showing someone stood near a doorway? So I wondered if they were for the public to see especially as one window had brochures stood on the windowsill, the doorway was open wide so I gingerly edged to the door to then be shocked by one of the priests to literally slam the door in my face almost flattening my nose!!! Oh the shame... How could I be so stupid?? I said sooooo sorry but I dont think he heard above the noise of the door slam... Anyway we went to Platanos for the obligatory lemon cake/ice cream while I tried to erase my disgust of myself.. Due to me not being on top form we wernt as adventurous as we may have been but still had lovely time, new eateries were En Plo — not great.. Infinity Blue—fantastic— Jimmy’s in AG— nice... Pyrofani— really lovely feel and nice food... Mylos for evening meal food ok but bizarre service, bringing main meal whilst eating starters??? Ratatouille as wonderful if not better than ever.. Diyonissos in town fabulous and the waiter on second visit was fantastic.. so lovely.. Mouria in town was ok... Taverna Ligares for lunch fantastic again.. Bourtzi for lunch was too expensive in our opinion and I only had fruit platter. Mythos bar we had their ice cream special which could have fed a family then complimentary drink which was gorgeous but no way could I get the ingredients out of the waiter damn lol. We swam in amazing warm calm waters at Aghia Eleni beach and Kolios.. didnt get to Banana big beach sadly.. went to Koukanaries beach just to look but not for us but saw and walked part way around the lake for first time, a thing of beauty except for the two men who used the trees as toilets!! We spent a couple of after dinner evenings either in the lovely bar area of Ratatouille or Christakis bar both of which we find very relaxing but always finished our nights back with lovely friends from last year at our apartments bar at Boudouriani of which I cannot recommend highly enough.. the family there are the best and I have tears in my eyes thinking as we have def decided our future holidays have to be Aus to visit our daughter and son in law so unless the lottery is kind to us we wont see Ileas/Paris and their wonderful Boudouriani and their parents again Kelso/Bob we are so pleased we tried Infinity Blue, not just a fabulous meal but a wonderful experience All in all we did enjoy ourselves and the friends we had back at base we cant thank enough for the great company and laughs and are keeping in touch back here. Two couples who arrived in our second week that we also met last year there also contributed to many late night humour, I do love a good natured indeed and thank them for that Troulos still remains our favourite resort.. the only thing I would say in a negative thought is the Island itself was so so much busier this year though its been heading that way for the last couple of years but especially driving into and out of town in the early/late evenings was scary to put it mildly.. luckily Mick wasnt fazed but I was relieved when we parked up back at base each evening as we did go into town a lot. Anyway once again sorry for the lack of posts as it happened I just couldnt summon myself to concentrate on things as they were happening.. Take care everyone and keep on enjoying the beauty that is Skiathos xx
