A SOCKS PUTTER-ONNER. it puts your socks on when your footman/valet is away (I haven’t got a valet, so mine’s always away and I can’t reach my right foot). I like it. My feet get further away every year.

Gravisi last night for excellent pizzas. Apparently he stays open all year round, unless it gets too cold, then he only does take away.
Wonderfully warm and sunny this morning, so we got on the bus to Koukounaries. By the time we got here it’s moderate, cloudy, a little breezy, and the water sports are packed up, so no jet ski for me until 2022.
Everywhere (outside town) is packing up. At the hotel, the large fridges holding the bottled beer and wine have been emptied. Ditto the shelves full of spirits.
In Koukounaries, the Supermarket (near BBW) was emptying. The kiosk near the bridge is the same. The beach bar is still open.
It feels inexplicably sad, and part of it is that it doesn’t feel like we’re leaving the island, it’s the island leaving us.
In future we’ve decided that, if we get a sneaky end-of-season week, we’ll make it the penultimate week, and book diy. Look for last minute bargains. And if we come out of season (say mid-October) it’ll be in town, maybe popping out to beaches, rather then the other way around.
Having said all that, say in the sun loungers, it does feel very tranquil.

When we visit in the first week of May we get the reverse feeling, it’s like the island is opening up just for us. I agree town is a better place to base yourself towards the end of the season, it must be difficult for businesses to judge when to run stocks down etc, but it’s a long close season for them and pointless storing goods over the winter. It appears the weather has been kind to you which is always a benefit

Quick update. The beach has livened up no end. Two ferries have come in, each carrying a contingent of older school pupils, who have taken over the beach, which is very heartening.
Meanwhile, the water sports shed has opened up. It appears he only does afternoons (or was aware of the ferries).
So the jet skiing is back on.

So, jet ski yesterday afternoon - more on that later.
Then back to the hotel, and off in to town. A nice wander round, and we couldn’t decide where to go. Went to Marmita, but it was full (booked in for tonight), so we went to Mesogia. Lovely moussaka and chicken & potatoes baked in lemon.
As the forecast was (incorrectly) poor(ish) we decided to forget the beach and head to town. Got off at 4, and instead of walking through Plakes, we skirted it, staying as close to the sea as possible, right until we hit town. Lovely.
A couple of glasses of white on the Bourtzi, what a simply lovely experience that is.
Then we walked down past Bus Stop 0, and along to the runway. Julie was amazed how close it was. Lots of sunshine with just bits of cloud.
Bus back to the hotel, where Julie is having a nap. Up soon, and packing, before heading back to town for the last night.
One problem. It’s 5:00pm. Our flight is at 8:50pm tomorrow. And Jet2 still haven’t given us a pick up time. The hotel can’t find out, either. They’re supposed to close at 11:00am tomorrow, but are staying open until 1:30pm to help the guests out. Hopefully Jet2 will have their selves together overnight.
I must say, this is poor service from Jet2, and quite atypical. They’ve always been great for us in the past.

“Past bus stop 4 and along to the runway” As for pickup time, we got our message from TUI at 11pm, LONG after we’d gone to bed! That’s not just poor service, it’s M&S poor service!

Cheers Dennis, corrected to ‘Bus Stop 0’. Just heard from Jet2. They’re picking us up from the Princess at c.11:00am and taking us to another hotel for the day, then picking us up from the at 17:50 for the airport. The other hotel is the Elivi.

Blimey, each time you get moved, you go up another notch or three in the stars scale!!! That did occur to me. That aside, it’s not going to be a brilliant day tomorrow. It’s due to rain from breakfast to tea time, so we’re just going to be sat in the Elivi lobby or bar. The bar. Let’s face it, it’ll be the bar.

In the bar, try looking like a pukka resident to test whether it’s all inclusive. (If it is, try the same tactic in the restaurant!!!). 🤡

And don’t worry about tomorrow, although you might need an amphibious coach to get to the Elivi, there’s only 70% chance of a rainy takeoff. (That’s 70% chance you WON’T takeoff😎).
