Yes, I know it’s weeks away, but I just HAD to let out a public yelp. I’ve just completed the final part of booking, namely Bristol airport parking. Used Meet and Greet in June and despite small misunderstanding over opening times, this was our best option, so I’ve done it again. BUT YELP! As in YELP, YELP! Paid £149 for June. Same period 14 days this time is £285. OUCH, YELP! Perhaps they’ll use the extra profit to put enough staff on the Assistance desk to cope with us.
Oooooo!

Ouch indeed! £136 increase is rather slightly more than inflation 😩

why dont you have a taxi they will probably use short stay drop off near the doors. the only reason i used carpark this time was because of petrol rises taxi more than car parking. i paid £84 for 2 weeks east mid last minute special offer meet and greet not much more. i wouldnt trust meet and greet ema they say secure patrolled parking, when my husband worked at the airport they used to park some cars on the staff car park if they ran out of space, all of a sudden struggling to park when you got to work. my son used meet and greet at heathrow left his porsche 911 h told them ive photographed mileage and i dont expect to find mileage changed much when i return. my friend did meet and greet stanstead they couldnt remember where they had put their car, not good with 2 young children took them 90 minutes to find it !

Interesting, Cariad. I have free cancellation on the parking up to 48 hours before departure. So I'm looking into taxis. So far not encouraging - local firm's first response is they are not doing returns when we come back due to c urrent situation at airport! So can't get home when we come back. I'm going to discuss further with them when I can get back in touch. Alternative is fight everybody else for a taxi at the airport when we land - don't much fancy our chances with a few planes landing at similar times! An alternative might be to call on the graces of Vera's family - ask somebody to drop us there at 4am (Yelp!) and pick us up around 4-30pm in the afternoon when they're at work. But short term drop and go parking is a total rip off at Bristol and huge signs "no stopping on pain of enormous fines by ANPR". So we won't be doing that! (From 4am there are huge numbers of cars just idling at the roadside outside the perimeter fence on the A38 for pickups). Give it a bit of time to stew I think, see how airport staffing progresses during school holidays to deal with passengers on the ground.

yes parking anywhere on airport roads is a big no, there are signs all over ema warning no stopping anywhere other that designated areas people still do it rather than pay £5 for 10 mins drop off car park and get £60 fine there are anpr cameras everywhere. im sure a family member will help you ive got up in the middle of the night to take or collect my parents, pleased to be able to help them after all they have done for me. I even had day off work (threw a sickie) to go down to luton to pick them up. At birmingham short stay drop off its £5 or£7-50 for 10 mins to keep slots free for close by drop off after that i think its a £1 a minute. Offer a grandson £20 they will be there like a flash they could even take cases in for you while you assist vera. google airport cars rather than taxis they tend to specialise in airport runs and include the short stay drop off charge in the fare. Do you think veras knee will be better by sept?

Drop off at Manchester £6, unfortunately not warned on entry , barrier at exit point with cash/card machine, I wonder what happens to those who aren’t carrying their wallet/purse ?

Thinking about it, home to U.K. airport (and back) is the biggest hassle of a holiday.
When I win the lottery, I’m getting a limo to take me from my house to the nearest heliport, then a helicopter to the airport. 🤣

I’d have my man drive me there, gentle, leisurely drive, stop for beer and pies or Pepsi Max and Walkers Ready Salted from time to time. Take several days over it, then send him back to UK because I wouldn’t be coming back.

Much water has flowed under the bridge. The biggest flow being that on 2nd August after a long day driving, I went back out to the van to get the odometer reading for my business records and tripped, put my hand out to stop me hitting the floor and dislocated and fractured my shoulder. I lay on the ground for quite a bit calling for help and eventually Vera came looking to see what I was getting up to.
For five weeks I’ve been unable to drive, my arm and shoulder are improving slowly, but my hand is a swollen useless painful lump on the end of my arm.
Vera’s knee is still a big mobility problem.
Short story - holiday at risk. But we ARE going unless something does a catastrophe in the next 36 hours. Cancelled Meet and Greet, found another taxi for less than half the price. Vera’s son and wife booked to go to Skiathos and selected Premier Hotel 100 yards away from Villa Maria. Travelling on same flights as us and blindly selected the only two aisle seats left - alongside us!!!
Enough. Further commentary will be put in the feedback forum.

It certainly sounds as though you both need a holiday. I hope all goes well and you have a great time. Looking forward to hearing you yell at the new Skopelos webcam! 📣
