Well, I'm getting to that point on the countdown when I can officially get excited. 39 days ticking away ... so just over a month now. Having just had a week of enforced alone-ness with Covid, the time is really dragging! (Luckily, I was absolutely fine and only realised as I had a slightly sore throat so did a test just in case.) I spent my time in the garden - cutting hedges, cleaning the tiny pond and doing a spot of bad topiary and, as the weather was so good, I quite enjoyed it at first. I've book a two-destination holiday this time . Well, that's stretching it a little as the two destinations are Megali Ammos and the new port! Anyhow, I'm staying at the Angeliki hotel on the beach in MA for the first week and then moving to a sea view room at Casa Blue Marine, almost opposite the taxi rank, for a further ten days. My eldest son and his wife have also booked a room there for a week, so my holiday will have two very different halves as we'll no doubt hire a Jimny and have some adventures (as long as son drives on the mountain roads!). I'm eager to try the Angeliki as I've visited Swell many times and really love the location and the food. It will be great not to have to worry about bagging a sunbed and also to be able to have an early morning dip - as long as the sea is nice and warm! I must admit that I'm becoming a little spoilt for choice on where to stay as I've loved every single place so far. I've ruled out staying in Koukounaries again (unless with a group) but would stay happily at any of the other hotels I've been to in town, with The Water being my #1 so far. Still got quite a few on my list that I'd love to try and have already booked the Alkyon for a couple of weeks next year.

We loved our stay at The Water this year, we wouldn't have known about it but for your posts last year. Have a great time and look forward to your feedback.

Hahaha - that confused me EGG! Thought we'd got a new poster 😁
Am pleased it encouraged you to book, though. It's definitely worth the extra - just for the position.

1,m still torn between town or not, ive always liked being in town for the evenings and handy if you need pharmacy etc. But my husband didnt like how crowdwd it was this year when we went into town. i saw brillant deal when we were away for the alykon with jet 2 far better flight times than tui and just on one week half board for the price of bed and breakfast. it was about £990. Then we passed The Almeria In troulos which is close to the beach and bus stop and had a look around the owner is lovely taverna looks good, and mainly adults and we were torn. and couldnt decide which to book. The offer is no longer available on the Alykon i looked at Almeria yesterday its booked up most of next summer should we just book flights get accommodation later, im still in holiday head ! I had holiday need mood so ive comprimised and booked a week in north wales for next spring, i have to always have something to look forward too.

I prefer to stay in town in early June or September, Cariad. I was there last year in July and it was far too busy on Pap street - and sooo hot (up to 40C!). I went back on 6 Sept and it was for the first couple of days (with some rain) but then absolutely glorious until I left on 20th. I've booked the Alkyon for September next year on the strength of the great reviews - but paid quite a lot for it as I've gone for a sea view room. If I stay out of town again I'll look at the Almira - some friends stayed there and said it was fantastic. North Wales will be fab - I assume you've connections there?

My husband is welsh from west wales little place called aberaeron on the coast. He had never been to north wales until I surprised him with weekend in bodelwddyn castle for his birthday. We loved north wales and want to see more, and pop over to Anglesey which looks nice. We can then drive from there to see the out laws for a couple of days. We spoke to a few people who had been to almira and they raved about it. If you book flight and book direct with them they collect you from the airport and I think you get one of the best rooms though they all look nice

Aberaeron is a lovely little village, which we used to pass through every year on the way to Tresaith, and occasionally visit during our stay.
We used to nickname it 'Balamory' because of the different coloured house fronts.

Aberaeron also has a company called PMT Skip Hire. Just saying.

Her knee is desperate, even worse than when it was first done. We've dojne yet another hospital appointment where she had more x-rays and showed arthritis flared up by the incident. Doctor/consultant at hospital on TRUesday afternoon said he would normally give a cortizone injection, but hesitated due to her diabetes. She should continue with the codeine prescribed on Tuesday by doctor at surgery, but if it doesn't ease up, get in touch and he'll arrange the injection. Nurse daughter reckons surgery can do them, and it hasn't eased up so this morning I contacted surgery and got a telephone consultation this afternoon. Doctor rang and immediately agreed to injection - she's had one before without trouble and her diabetes blood results are so low she's hardly diabetic, so no problem. Sadly, he's the one who does them normally, but he's working from home today and going on two weeks holiday tonight!!! So he contacted surgery for a doctor on duty who could do it (not all can apparently) this afternoon, but the only one has unfortunately dislocated a finger and has a splint on her injecting hand, so we have to go in on Monday for another doctor to do it.
Boudouriani is on the main road, same side as Salt and Pepper, but a little further along towards Koukounaries, before Victoria and that place up the mountain that I shall never eat at even though it has Greek statues and a stair lift (just remembered the name, Nectar and Ambrosia), between bus stops 18 and 19, closer to 19 but it's no distance. We can see it from Villa Maria across the field. It has a very good reputation amongst those who stay there, nice pool (usual smallish Skiathos size) with a poolside bar and foodery - we met and ate with someone there a couple of years ago. I'd recommend it on behalf of those I know who've visited. Photo from September 2019, I had chips, girl opposite had a huge salad :-

Poor Vera - but hopefully the cortisone will bring her relief. Roll on Monday!
