Just dropping in to say hello and hope each and every one of you are faring well as we go into midwinter almost. And to let you know after no holidays for over 3 years now we are swanning off down under again this Saturday (26th)… Five weeks we will be there so will experience an aussie Christmas again! It’s tinged more than a little as sadly my son in law has had the news his dear Dad has been diagnosed with asbestos related cancer of one of his lungs and unless a mis-diagnosis has happened (he’s had three different outcomes but this one seems correct sadly) then its quality of life over quantity they are looking at. A lovely gentle man and gentleman to say the least, so we will be quite low key this visit as obviously we respect our SIL is and will be very upset out there. But I hope we bring him/them both some distraction and our girl is needing our love and hugs as she prepares to keep strong for hubby. Im looking at rest and relaxation for us more than excitement this time around and with the costs of everything no idea when we will make the trip over again but Im going to try and help us make lots of memories whilst supporting our lovely SIL at this difficult time. I will pop in here if ok with the odd bit of sunshine talk if that’s ok? Take care everyone and keep safe! ❤️
Di xx

Yes please Di, do call in whenever it is possible for you. I realise that’s a cheeky comment coming from someone who still hasn’t put a conclusion to my September feedback!

Sorry to hear about your son in law's father. I lost 2 relatives to mesothelioma, it is something of a dirty secret in the town where I grew up (a major employer in the town over many years used asbestos, importing the dangerous blue asbestos before its full health hazard was known). As previously said, any posts are welcome but especially to keep things ticking over during the non holiday months.

Hi Di, I hope that you are able to have a good time in spite of the unfortunate circumstances. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend two Christmases and a New Year in Sydney and it was fantastic. It was really emotional watching the New Year fireworks over Sydney harbour, when somebody struck up the bagpipes. I was completely choked. The most amazing experience was going to a performance of Handel’s Messiah in Sydney Town Hall, dressed in T shirt and shorts! Another odd experience was having full Christmas dinner on the beach. The Aussies are so open and friendly, so I’m sure you’ll have a great time. I hope you have a pleasant flight.
