I’m so sorry I didn’t think to ask how you are before now, Dennis. You’ve just said you’re still in hospital - I hope you’ll soon be well enough to return home to Vera’s care and can recuperate in time for a return to Skiathos in September 🤞.
I’m happy (and flattered) that you have enjoyed reading my posts whilst you’ve been laid up … but I know that all the regulars on here are really desperate for your return to the island to delight us with your very witty and descriptive posts of early morning swims and interactions with blonde bus conductors 😄. Please let us know how you’re doing … and get well soon!

Thank you Kate. I had a FEVAR op on 23rd and came home on Tuesday 27th. A small digression from plan meant that instead of a keyhole both sides, I have one at one side and a couple of cuts at the other. After three days I’m up and about, needing to get back up to strength and hopefully looking forward to Skiathos 9 weeks today. I see you’ll be there at that time so it may be nice to meet - but we are with family and no doubt not into all your clubbing antics. So I’ll carry a rolled up copy of the Financial Times and wear a white carnation in my buttonhole for recognition if you are sharp-eyed. (Or more likely a not plain T-shirt).

Good news Dennis! I just had to look up what FEVAR is - ouch! Hope the cuts soon heal and you make a speedy recovery. It’s good to know you’ll be back on the island in nine weeks - I’ll look out for you, but don’t worry as clubbing isn’t compulsory (and I’m getting a bit old for antics in any case!!!)
I don’t think I’ll be there for the Katsonis remembrance this year, as I go home on 13th (unless they bring it forwards). If it is, by any chance, on the 12th I’ll see you and Vera then.

Thank you Kate, all is going well so far. I did get the GP nurse to take photos before and after removal of the dressings, quite impressive and surely worth £35,000 of anybody’s money, but then I thought you’d probably not be interested, so I’ve deleted them. I have a checkup CTA scan booked for later this month, then a phone call from surgeon 9th August to say if I pass muster - better had pass, I can’t get holiday insurance without it. So September holiday is still only a booking (that we have fully paid for, uninsured if it can’t happen!!!!). Ignoring uncertainty, perhaps we shall meet. i think Katsonis ceremony will be either Thursday 14th, actual anniversary, or Sunday 17th, usual nearest Sunday, so i guess you’ll miss it either way. No doubt the wannabe guitarist and fillum director will video it if it’s on the 17th and post it on YouTube again.

Good to hear that you are getting better Dennis. I hope you are able to make it in September. I’ll be watching out for your “grumpy” T shirt. 🤣 Bob

Well Bob, you should be aware that Vera has very high standards for cleanliness on holiday, so I expect to only wear Grumpy for one day. Some alternatives are Strong, Google and Ann & Jim. Vera has a Google one , but I don’t think she’ll take it. I also usually get a new one from the T-shirt shop just up Papadiamantis from the cinema or down from Nikos, depends which way you’re pointing.
