Arrived okay. Very chilly up at the Palace, it’s usually a tad breezy up here.

Quick update.
Warmer down at sea level last night. Warmer up at the Palace this morning. Indeed, pretty much perfect temperature for my tastes.
One small set of sun loungers at the far end of Koukounaries. All full. All the beach bars still closed apart from the one right at that end.
Large Mythos at the Palace €7, at Agustera €5.50.
Under the Pine Tree last night. Great starters (zucchini balls and tomato balls), €7 each. Chicken souvlaki portion €13. The starters were excellent. The mains a bit dry.

First time I went to skiathos about 25 years ago beach like that to me perfect, hated it last few years jammed with beds couldn’t bear to go on it. Will they reduce cost of licenses to reflect smaller income from less beds? Never had to pay for beds on most other islands or mainland if you used taverna for lunch/ water etc. 12 years ago Mykonos were 20 euros but they reduced your taverna bill by 12 euros if you bought drinks snacks or lunch, we often used taverna at night so often didn’t charge us at all.

Hi gang, just a quick summary so far.
Arrived on time Saturday. I’m in 122, newly refurbished, though I think maybe fairer to say it’s had a lick of paint. Very nice, though.
Saturday afternoon, chilly round the pool. Saturday evening to Agustera for a couple, then on to Under the Pine Tree. Bus back, and a few more at the pool bar.
This morning, breakfast, back to the room, then to the pool bar to play cards for the morning. Afternoon, shuttle bus down to Koukounaries bridge. We walked down the beach, off at Bus Stop 26, then walked back up to Agustera for the Leeds game. Pizza at half time, very nice.
Back to the hotel, just had a shower, off to town tonight.
You may remember last year we had issues at the Alkyon with the shower panel. Same item causing this year for a different reason.
During the upgrade a new shower panel has been fitted, but it’s too high, and there’s a 1cm gap between the bottom of the panel and the top of the bath’s edge.
Reception have been informed. One for the ‘snag list’.

Elivi. Is this in keeping with the new 30% law?

Kymata last night, exceptional food.
The four of us shared 3 starters (olives/bread, tzatziki and Saganaki. Mains were sea bass, 2 swordfish, and beef stifado. 4 half litres of wine. Total €120 including tip, so just €30 each.
We were going to Scuna, but it’s not open yet.

This morning we’ve gone to Maratha, as still no sunloungers on Koukounaries.
The Palace have got a few out here. Only €20 a pair.
I know a few years ago that’s have been expensive, but today it’s fairly cheap.
I’ve just heard someone saying that the few out near Elivi are something like €35 for one lounger, €15 extra for the second in the pair.

Well €35 is certainly cheaper than buying a lilo and you don’t have to blow it up. Although some might argue that they wouldn’t want to compare a week’s rental with buying (albeit that’s not for someone who can’t do with blowing their bed up every day).

So when we used to go to Maratha with the kids, as they got a bit older they wanted their own loungers. So two pairs, cost me €40.
Now I’m here with my dad and brothers, two pairs, we pay €10 each, so it’s only costing be €10.
Winner!
