We visited Skiathos twice last year and have decided we want to get married there. We viewed and ate at many restaurants but was recommended the Tennis Club in Skiathos Town for a possible wedding venue (reception only). We visited the Tennis Club on our last day therefore did not get chance to eat there, has anyone else eaten there? The manager was lovely and very accommodating and we were impressed by the outside space (we require a safe environment for small children where there's lots of open space, therefore a lot of the restaurants on the harbour front were not suitable!)
If anyone has any experiences of the Tennis Club I would be interested in their views.

You might also want to post your query on www.iqeal.com/skiathos. There are quite a few fans of the Tennis Club who post there but don't seem to have joined here. Their loss. Bob

We have eaten there once and the food was great and as you say lots of space for children to keep themselves occupied. I know Sharon from the Skiathos Cat Welfare Society eats there regularly and highly recommends it.

Yes please Kathos....have you attended a wedding reception there? We were really impressed by the venue but having not eaten there was a little unsure about booking it! Any advice or comments would be appreciated xx

Yes, my daughter had her wedding reception there it was perfect for them. If Tolis is still there he is very helpful and Christos the owner is too but it was Tolis that arranged everything for us. The food is very good, you can select anything in any quantities that is on their menu Tolis will help you if you want him to. Our tables were set up on the patio under huge umbrellas, the food was laid out inside buffet style so guests could help themselves for the starters but the chefs served the meats for mains, you can have meals served to your tables also. Our wedding party was only small at 19 but they can cater for any number of people. Our wedding was in May and the Tennis Club was quiet so we didn't have it closed off, there were about only six other people around the pool so they were offered food and drink and it made a nice atmosphere. Depending on what you want of course, but late in the afternoon some of our guests got changed and bombed into the swimming pool! Food can be replenished at any time just ask for whatever you want then later in the evening some local people came to join us and entertained us with Greek dancing. Tolis held centre stage to do his dance for the two Mothers. The music, dancing, eating and drinking continued till about midnight. Absolutely nothing was any trouble to them at all, it was a fabulous day and one that is still talked about with great affection. Before we booked it four of us went to eat there and each had a different meal to get an idea of the food quality and variety and the rest as they say is history. Please let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help if I can.

Thanks Kathos that is really helpful! We were recommended the tennis club by an English couple who live in Skiathos and also got married there. Our plan is to get married at Bourtzi and perhaps have some drinks in a bar on the harbour before heading to the tennis club, where did your daughter have the wedding service?

Hi Yes it was recommended to us to by an English couple who lived there but are no longer on the island now, I also know of one other English couple who still live on the island who had their reception there.
My daughter was married at the Bourtzi but in the room on the right which is no longer used for weddings now, I think they have a more modern looking room to the left for the services these days. The guests all settled down for drinks afterwards at the Bourtzi cafe whilst the photos were being taken and then most walked back along the harbour to the Tennis Club, we also walked to the Bourtzi from our hotel as they wanted to try to be as traditional as possible. The local people will clap you and shout good wishes as you walk along which is lovely.
I think almost any of the places on the harbour will be happy to serve your party drinks and nibbles, they are usually quiet in the afternoon when most people are at the beach. Don't worry about booking venue, cake, flowers etc well in advance like we have to for UK weddings, everything can be sorted in less than a week. We used Eleni Florist in Bouboulinas Street, Photoplanet which I think is now Simeon Photography on Pap Street and a local baker for the cake.
Are you booking your wedding through Anastasia who is the islands wedding planner? I think you can have the actual service held outside of the Bourtzi building these days, there is a lovely paved area with amazing views all around you which would be perfect but Anastasia would know about that.
I hope this will give you a few pointers, do ask if you need to know anything else, but the main thing is it can all be done with the least amount of stress because everyone is so helpful.

Yes we met Anastacia and she suggested we witness one of the weddings taking place at the Bourtzi cafe. It was beautiful and we decided there and then thats where we wanted the service to be held. Anastacia did say you could book a lot of the stuff when you get there like cakes, flowers etc..... I know the island is very laid back not like here!!!
Thank you so much for your help and reassurance......we love Skiathos and cant wait to go back!! X
