Hi, just paid the balance for our trip in 70 days time! Can't wait (especially as it's snowed here this morning! Now it's just grey and pouring with rain!) I need sunshine soon! We have visited several other islands during the last 39 years and now we're really looking forward to visiting Skiathos for the first time.

Lovely... we paid ours a few days early the other week for our visit in July and same here with the weather... I got our last euros today as luckily managed to get most of them when the rate was higher and hubby has been saving each week so we can hire a jimny for the whole two weeks, which is a luxury but was so worth it last year when we could only have a week due to visiting our daughter in Aus in November, we had been for 2 weeks in 2014 and loved it so much we sneaked that week in last year.. I hope you love it as much as we do, it's the only place my hubby has asked to go back to, could take foreign holidays or leave them usually..... where are you staying?.. we are in Troulos for the third time..

We paid our balance for June ages ago and have to pay our balance for September a couple of days before we go in June! I'm champing at the bit to be off, have been for ages and I'm desperate to get some Euros, but Vera says wait for it to go up a bit more. I don't understand, how can you get bit champing if you don't get Euros early? It's gone up 2 cents since last weekend and I couldn't care less! We've still got a couple of hundred from previous visits, but they're going down fast with the kids all going into Europe and being gifted a few each! I wish we could change the ticker to do it in days instead of months, weeks and days - mine looks like ages to go yet, but it's only a few days really. Nearly eight weeks sounds like an epoch, whereas 55 days is almost tomorrow, especially when you take out two Bank Holidays. Or maybe change it to say 10 days before Di.

Let the excitement begin!! 20 days until we return to the island.... A cheeky week to finalise arrangements for our son's wedding. Then home for 4 weeks & fly back again 24 June... a 3 week stay for their wedding. Fabulous times.....

When you pay for your balance, does that mean you are walking on a tight rope?

8 days to go! Had a mini panic this morning when I realised my EHIC ran out last summer (obviously I didn't check it in October when we went to Fuerteventura !) But as it says it takes 7-10 working days to arrive I've ordered a renewal one online and ran off the necessary phone numbers and paperwork in case it doesn't come in time! Had mini rant at husband as he was asked to check them weeks ago but obviously didn't!... I've researched the holiday, booked it,researched and bought insurance, paid for it, bought things we need to take with us etc... all he had to do was check the passports etc..(you can imagine the conversation I had earlier today with him! Fortunately I will have calmed down by the time he gets home from work! (his other contribution to this holiday was to book a taxi and his reply has been "It's too early yet!" , I bet he books it tonight to avoid further wrath! (Having said all that with us leaving the EU not sure how that will effect EHIC cards for the time being.)

You'll be ok with your new EHIC.. Although the decision has been taken to leave the EU it will probably be a couple of years before the separation actually takes place, according to "those who should know". Have a great holiday and remember, if a man promises to do something, he will do it, so no need to remind him every 6 months! Bob

That's typical of a nagging wife Bob. We can do without six month reminders, will they never learn?

I have to say Supplyforever that in my experience, if you want something doing you should ask the busiest person you know ..........a woman! :-)

He came home from work yesterday all ready for battle! His defense was "I did check my card and it was ok so I assumed yours would be too!!!!" grrrr

Well what do you expect him to check? Your undies? Your shopping list? Your bank balance? Your shoe size? Whether you've done the washing up? Have you done the ironing? This simply isn't fair. You can over stress a man with all these responsibilities.
