Thank you so much for this! We have never done this route as my other half suffers with vertigo a little, especially with the unknown. I’ve made him watch this 😄, and he thinks he’d be ok as long as we’re not ‘on the edge’. Hopefully next year, seems such a long time away...

Which one of you drives? Vera isn’t at all happy with edges so whenever possible I drive on the other side of the road (not a lot of traffic up there!). That route has trees and vegetation hiding the drops most of the time.

I can’t drive at all so dependent on the other half to get me round the nooks & crannies of Skiathos 😄

Vera can't drive either. There was a time when my heights thing was quite bad - I couldn't comfortably look out of an upstairs window! Now that I'm an Elderly, I have developed a tolerance of sorts and reinforce it by not looking over edges. It also helps that I'm doing the driving and so I know I'm in control (let's face it, I drive a LOT of miles as a whitevanman, so being in control of a vehicle is my thing). I don't think I could do some of these routes as a passenger and when I am a passenger it's best if I'm in the back seat so that I can't brake! My mottgo for Skiathos is anyway "Slow and Steady", then neither of us gets the willies and we thoroughly enjoy the beautiful countryside. I still have to get onto our second day's drive, from Xanemos to Ag Paraskevi, which I'm thinking I may have to split into two for the size of it.

Looking forward to your next video route, we’ve done a bit of the lanes behind Ag Paraskevi but I remember once we chickened out due to highness! This year we took a taxi to the Monastery as he knew the road up to it was more than he/his head could cope with.

Oooh. If he can't cope with the road to the monastery there's not a lot of hope for you I fear. That's all tarmac or concrete surfaces, quite stable, merely a bit steep and hairpinny in places. My one from Xanemos has a quite exciting uphill bit early on (we get overtaken by a departing Thomas Cook and a bloke on a motorbike), OK in 4 wheel drive, but a bit steep and rough.

It’s the steepness & hairpinny that he struggles with the most 😄

Hmm. He’s beginning to look like a difficult one. Have a look at my video of Troulos to Kechria. I think he might manage as far as Ligaries, the place before Kechria. Maybe just always have in reserve the option to stop and go back and stop and don’t enter that poor looking road. I’m certainly prepared for those decisions myself.
