we managed with 15kg hold luggage never bother with hand luggage , hate being cluttered. just relied in i phone for access to internet posts etc. i take it your not booked with thomas cook then? No, I’m with TUI fortunately. Interesting comments on the laptop v tablets and phones, on both sides. I agree with pretty much all that’s been said. In this instance I have some things I plan to do while I’m there which would be extremely tricky, if not impossible on anything but a laptop.

Been using Flickr instead of Photobucket for a while now. At first PB didnt seem to have cottoned on that I wasn't paying anything but eventually pulled the plug. Flickr pretty much does what PB used to do though it can be a bit hit and miss getting to the proper login page rather than the cover page wanting you to upgrade to a paid account all the time. The only other thing I've noticed is it frequently appears to add extra info onto the end of the bbc code you paste into a forum post. It can be removed by going back and editing once th epost is made but its a bit annoying, think theres still some extraneous stuff on a couple of my photos added to my recent report but i don't have time to go back and look again. There are other free forum platforms other than Proboards that allow an interface with imgur so you can just drag and drop photos onto a box to attach to a post so it can be done (though the photos arent as big as they are if you just put in a bbc code from an external hosting source).

Thanks Kev. I must look into Flickr. I think I did when Woody did something about it, but I was daunted somehow. I fear I appear brighter tech-wise than I actually am, so I back off new stuff sometimes. But I’ll give it a go now, not much choice with PB such an impossible situation.

When Photobucket started getting wobbly with providing a free hosting service I first looked at TinyPic as an alternative but the site was awful and full of glitches. It has since closed down completely. It was OK for me for quite some time as the Bucket police hadn't caught me yet then one day with no notice whatsoever it was paid for accounts only and that was that (which has incidentally ruined my previous years reports on this site, all the old photobucket photos are now blurred out!). Flickr at the moment doesnt seem too bad, I haven't exceded my allocation yet anyway. Just watch out after you create an account and then go back to the site it often dumps you on a page that is there to sell paid for accounts, no clear login to get to your freebie account, I've sometimes had to go back to a google search just to get the correct homepage to come up again so I can get to log in.

Well techies, it is all double dutch to me. I applaud all your efforts to add photos to your blogs but I think that I will carry on describing and you can use your own imaginations to paint the pictures. 😆
May I also add, GREAT RESPECT to all of you that use your smartphones for your diaries! Not something I could cope with.

The rain has disappeared again.
Temperatures now 25, 24, 24 for Fri/Sat/Sun.
In a strange way I’m finding this entertaining.

Its going to be rather quiet without all those TC planes coming in on Friday. I wonder if some places will shut up shop early? I understand Salt n Pepper already closed last week though I think that is in part due to a change of ownership in the works.

I am ignorant to the actual volume of bodies that arrive weekly via TC, I assume well into 4 figure, perhaps someone can enlighten me. Whatever the numbers, less euro coming into the island

Salt n pepper closed because they were getting little business since they changed staff and management two years ago. Previously we only got in without booking because we went at 6:30pm - anybody wanted 7pm had to book. He even turned Goldie away if she hadn’t booked. This year, July and September, every time we ate at Jasteri opposite, S&P had very few tables occupied. It is up for sale.

One of the things I’ve been musing over is how full the hotel will be. Part of me thinks it’s the end of the season, half full, winding down.
But on the other hand, if you go to TUI and try to book the holiday I’m on, it’s sold out.
Of course, I’ll never find out. Because TC sell holidays to the same place, and all of their holiday makers won’t be appearing. Apart from those booked for 10 or 14 days who set off before they went under.
Whatever, there’ll still be at least some holiday makers booked for the hotel who won’t be turning up, and planes which were flying to the island which won’t be going.
What will the impact be? More food and drink for everyone else? A surplus sold off cheap? Or places closing earlier due to fewer customers?
Back to the forecast, and this morning shows Friday to Monday temperatures as 25, 24, 24, 25. <5% chance of rain on Sunday and Monday. <10% chance on Saturday. 30% chance of light rain showers on Friday afternoon.
That’s fine by me.

In other news, this has just struck me.
Looking at the “Who’s going in 2019” list, due to Kate & Paul’s unfortunate cancellation, I’m going to be ‘Last Boomeranger Standing’ this year.
As this is the first time I’ll be doing that, is there a ceremony to perform? A symbolic Last Mythos?

A symbolic last Mythos/Esa/cocktail would be very fitting as a fond farewell from us all to the 2019 season.
