We’ve just been bumped from the Palace at Koukounaries to the Princess at Agia Paraskevi in October.
Never been to either that hotel or the resort/beach.
Time for me to call on your collective reservoir of knowledge. Has anyone ever been to the Princess, or Agia Paraskevi? Any knowledge of the area, best tavernas, bars, etc.?

Have heard good reports of the Princess, but only second hand. Rob & Martha stayed at the Atrium over the road last month & really liked it. They ate in various restaurants in AP and enjoyed a change of scene, but found the beach too busy. It was the busiest week in August though! Is the Palace closing early?

Beach is lovely, lots of really good tavernas there have tried a few when visiting and staying in kolios short stroll away. You can’t see them from main road go down a lane turn left spilt for choice, princess usually far more expensive than palace so you’ve done we’ll own private area of the beach on the flat too

I’m going to guess - I bet they’re just over half full for the last week, so they’re closing half to save on cleaning etc. We’re part of the ‘just over! who can’t fit in the now full half.

It will be interesting to see how AP compares to Koukanaries YM during/following your visit. I have spent most of my Skiathos holidays in AP and enjoy the peace and laid back vibe there. However, i don't know what it will be like in October or what will be open restaurant wise that late in the season. My last holiday was roughly last two weeks in September 2018 and all the restaraunts/tavernas were still open at that time.
Skiathos Princess is directly opposite the Iquana Pool bar (Roulla complex) and they put on a quiz night on Wednesday evenings with all takings going to the Dog Sanctuary. On the same complex is the Boubounakia and the Platanias tavernas, both very good and full waiter service at the latter. Take the lane between Platanias and Orsa and you come upon Maestrali, Avli, Pegasus, Spiti Oneiri (Dream House) run by Costas and his daughter Efi. Good snack type meals and lovely friendly people. If you carry on further down the lane you come to Calma Restaurant and Prekas Studios. Restaurant always gets good reviews. Next door is Elizabeth Studios, which I have mentioned in previous posts puts on a pizza night (usually Saturday) and sometimes Wednesday if in height of season. Always welcome in the bar. They have their own pool too. Coming back down the lane, behind Spiti, is Jimmy's Studios. You will always get a warm welcome in the bar.
Then you have all the restaurants on the main road, all of which get good reviews (Orsa, Mesostrata, Kohyli, Jimmys) all get good reviews and opposite Kohyli is another snack type taverna called Bus Stop(?). There is a lane just before Jimmys which takes you to the Green Park. Beware, either (a) be very hungry or (b) forego the starter as the mains are very generous.
Not a beach person as such but the beach looks good. You will probably reach it from the rear of the hotel but if you were to come out of the hotel at the front, turn right, and take the road down at the side of the hotel, if they are still there, look up at the roof line, a multitude of bird nests (something for the children to count to keep them occupied :-) )
Not sure if you enjoy walking, but the lane that takes you down side of Platanias may be an enjoyable walk. I am sure I saw a sign for Ligaris but cannot confirm.
BS 16 to town is to the right of your hotel, and if you want to go into Kouk, it is across the road outside Orsa. You are in a good spot. :-)
