I've booked the Alkyon for September next year on the strength of the great reviews... Is Dave on a bonus for every one of us he persuades to go there?

I didnt know Nectar and Ambrosia had a pool/bar etc Dennis, are these the apartments behind the restaurant up that very steep hill at the side, the name of them escapes me but we have walked past it many a time and whilst dining in N+A we have seen/heard motorbikes taking luggage up there but never anyone walking up so wondered if there were steps somewhere. Cariad highly recommend N+A indeed 🙂

Sorry not sure what happened on my last post. I was just replying to say te apartments at side of Nectar and Ambrosia are the Victoria Nikos. Used to be available through Olympic holidays. Stayed there about 10 years ago and the hill is very steep. No pool you use the one at Victoria. I will stick to lurking in future.😂

Thanks for that, i cant imagine who would book there with no pool and that hill must be 80 degrees having to have to go up and down to the beach and tavernas

I will stick to lurking in future.😂 PLEASE don’t lurk. As far as I’m concerned, EVERY post is a welcome contribution. We all hit the wrong button occasionally, the smartypantses amongst us know how to cope, the rest do a little sotto voce naughty word and hope nobody notices! But nobody criticises and everybody is grateful for the smallest post. (Even the ones written on phones or tablets which don’t have capitals or commas and full stops and CRLFs!🤣).

Cariad for clarity, Boudouriani is on the flat, roadside. Has a decent pool and bar. Nectar and Ambrosia is opposite bus stop 19 and the petrol station. It hasn’t done anything to upset me, I’ve simply seen the steps to it, which must surely qualify as a training track for rock climbers. It has a stairlift which doesn’t tempt me.

Thanks Dennis , since we moved to a bungalow we tend to avoid stairs and steep slopes, our legs just arnt used to them. I like the location close to all the tavernas and a bus stop.

Two weeks yesterday for me - online check in done last week and I've resisted booking (and paying extra for) my seats and buying an onboard meal. It really doesn't matter where I sit, as long as I get there.
I've resisted getting the case out yet - it's far too early to be worrying about what to take. It's already got some holiday stuff in from last time - bug spray, swimming shoes & sunhat. I've done some online shopping for bits & bobs but really don't need anything else.
I'll have to take both hairdryer and straighteners this time, as I don't think that Angeliki has the former. Am wondering about the travel kettle as I don't think they have those either. However, I'm not that bothered about hot drinks ~ and Swell is right there.
I must admit to being rather excited!

e mail nicos to ask about kettle, theres a fridge to keep milk in, supermarket bang across the road for essentials, milk, wine etc. i envy you waking up th that lovely view. i always think the sea is much warmer there than anywhere else. I can recommend the white wine they put frozen grapes in to keep it , i habit ive developed at home.

Thanks Cariad, I will. I’ll only need wine & crisps from the supermarket - as am lactose intolerant. I found lots of places do oat/almond milk etc over there now - I do enjoy an occasional cappuccino.
Yes, the lovely view was one of the reasons I decided to book it. I’ve been there for food and sunbathing in the garden lots of times. I quite fancy a quick swim first thing and then a few relaxing hours on the lawn. It’s so nice and quiet there.

These forums should now be renamed “I’ll only need wine and crisps!”
😆
On the town v out of town thing, and town being crowded, I’ll just offer a different perspective.
Think daytime and nighttime.
Town being crowded in the day - should that make a difference? When I stop at Alkyon next spring I’ll not be walking up and down Pap.St. during the day, so how ‘full’ it is won’t make any difference to me. I’ll be up, breakfast, then either to the pool, or on the bus to a beach. The whole idea of stopping in town (at least at the moment, in my head, not having done it before), is that on an evening you don’t have to worry about buses to and from town every night, once you’ve had enough of the tavernas at your resort.
In a strange way, the new buses should have negated this.
I’ll see next year, I suppose.
One thing that’s cropped into my head. Remember when we were young? Friday or Saturday night, get dressed up to go into town, standing at the bus stop. Great times. That feeling of anticipation.
I always get a little bit of that waiting to go into town on Skiathos. The best of it is if you’re in Achladies, waiting for, going in on the water taxi.
