Right then, here we go.
Alkyon, first impressions. Very similar in most ways to the Palace, with a couple of aspects a bit better, I think due to the recent upgrade.
The views from breakfast are amazing, it’s like being in Monaco.
Funny things about the room. The sink is an unusual shape, which results in major splashing if you turn the tap on at more than a half.
Whoever fitted the shower and shower panel on the bath didn’t have their thinking heads on. You know a shower panel covers the third of the length of the bath, the end where the shower is, above the taps? Well yes, it’s like that. Only it’s a bath where the taps and shower are half way down the side, rendering the panel utterly useless.
Souvlaki Under the Pine Tree last night - they had no chicken souvlaki, which is a KFC-standard misjudgement. The pork was good, though. So starters were 2 x fries with cheese, 1 x zucchini balls, mains 4 x pork souvlaki, 1 x chicken nuggets. 2 x fantas, a Mythos, and 2 x 0.5l of wine (one red, one white). €100.
Here’s good news. The Alkyon runs a free bus service to Koukounaries. As there are 5 of us, and it’s €3 each, each way on the public bus, that’s €30 a day. Too late to book us all on this morning, only 3 spaces, so us two olds got on a normal bus to Koukounaries (from where I’m posting). We’re all on the bus back, though.
Now I’ve never stayed in town before, so whilst being aware of the following, I’d never experienced it, nor was I aware of the extent. The bus from Bus Stop 0 got very full straight away. It picked up and dropped off along the way, but far, far more of the former. Almost everyone was Koukounaries-bound. By Troulos it was absolutely rammed. And this is with the new buses running every 15 minutes, and the old ones as well (every 20 or 30). And yet…the beach doesn’t feel full - pic to follow.

Having said that, a big boat has just pulled in, carrying far more than a bus load.

In the section headed Photos, Woody posted guidance on doing it with Tapatalk, Flikr and Google photos. I still use Photobucket at whatever outrageous subscription they charge now!

It’s very easy - as easy as posting using the web browser (as I am now). Setting it up as as much faff as downloading any app and signing up to any forum, I suppose.

Probably the hardest part is deciding to try using “it”, whichever you choose. Personally I decided to pay Photobucket subscription rather than put my brain through another learning curve.

Is it something you have paid/upgraded to?

Is it something you have paid/upgraded to? No, it’s free. I think there might be a premium version which costs, but I didn’t pay for the one I have.

The beach filled up later to around 75%, at a guess.
Large beer at the beach bar €6.
Very sunny and warm, a couple of clouds later on.
Me and dad spent a couple of hours at Agustera, lovely way to catch up.
Back at the hotel, Gravisi tonight.
