And so we begin. Nice 90 min drive to the airport hotel, chilling out before our 13-30 flight tomorrow. *Cheers* to us, 5 long years since we have been and so looking forward to it for sure

So it’s now Thursday and happens to be my birthday today.. a day I choose what we do and where we go But back to Monday evening and we had booked park/stay and fly from Clayton Hotel at Manchester airport. It’s first time we have been since before covid and we dont find it as good personally. All the comfy chairs and sofas have gone from the bar and we used to prefer getting served at the bar. Its all waitress service now but not if you sit out on the terrace? We were informed they couldnt bring drinks to us outside yet we saw it happen? Also my £10 glass of wine which should have been 250ml that I ordered with a bottle of lemonade to go with it was poured together before I got it, I asked for a gin glass so I could do it myself, when it came the glass was half filled and I queried the amount but the girl swore it was correct. So £13 for one drink. And it was warm! Anyway enough of that, we ate there. It was ok. We wont use it again, maybe premier inn next time. Left the hotel on courtesy bus the next morning quick 5 min to T2 straight through departures and just 20 mins or so through customs. Headed for bit of breakfast, the shops and eateries seem a lot fewer now too? Plane left on time, it was a good flight and as usual our bags were almost last off the belt. We were met with our car hire company so off we set off to Troulos and lovely to go round each bend in the road and familiar sights come into view. Great welcome from Ilias at Boudouriani, nice upstairs apartment so far so good. We were too late to eat a meal by the time we got sorted, 9-30 is too late for me anyway. We rushed round to have a drink in Morfia/Ratatouille bar then popped into the supermarket and got bread etc and had quick slices of toast in our room before heading to the bar and enjoyed a few drinks before retiring. Long day.. tbc

Wednesday started and ended with much sunshine, had breakfast in our room then a couple of hours spent around the bar just chilling/reading before heading into town as we needed to swap our car as Odysseas had asked if we would take a different one for first day, no problem so we dropped the car off then spent a couple of hours around town. Some places/things have changed since we were last here (2018) but also lots just the same thankfully. We shared a delicious toasted chicken club sandwich at *More*, was nice to see Nickos back there. The chips were the best Ive ever tasted! €18 for club sandwiches and 2 coca colas, really enjoyed that hour or so there. Walked up the steps then round and around the streets before picking up our jimny then off back to our base. Little nap before heading back into town to eat at Dyonissos, it was a nice meal but I wonder if the place has changed hands as the main guy we have always seen there wasnt to be seen. I had chicken souvlaki hubby had lamb chops. We didnt have a starter as we were going to order desert but we were quite full so the complimentary little mousse was just right. Two mains/half carafe of wine and two sprites €48.50. Now they gave us bread at the beginning as usual and I knew we would be charged thats fine. But it was five small slices of warm but very hard bread and the bill showed it cost €6… I thought that was a bit steep myself and it wasnt even nice but hey ho put it down to experience might decline it in future. Stroll back through town where I purchased a new holiday bag. Town was buzzing too, very busy and the main eateries were doing good trade by looks. Back to our bar where we met up with old friends once again and we had a lovely couple of hours drinking and chatting.

Thursday morning.. still dont feel very hungry so just a few cornflakes before setting off on my 1st birthday choice and its a few hours on Eleni beach. Wasnt too busy but we dont get sunbeds as I cannot spend hours lying on one beach. Decided as we were now hungry we would have a light lunch and a drink in Augustera bar in Kouk.. it was too late the kitchen only do breakfast and evening food now so a leisurely drink (after a quick cuddle with old lovely Maverick before he went off with his family) I dont know what age he is but he’s def looking older than I expected. An amazing dog indeed. So afterwards we decided to drive back down to one of the big supermarkets near bus stop 3 I think? Light lunch back at base as we are looking forward to another meal in town tonight. Pyrofani Im thinking at the moment on the new port side. Tbc

..,so just a few cornflakes before setting off… Would that be those small, round cornflakes, which are similar…and yet at the same time different to what we get in the UK?

Good stuff Di, glad you made it back after so long. Me and mum went from Manchester a few years ago and the drinks prices in the terminal were eye watering then.
