We will be there for two weeks from the 21st May, had to miss last year as prices were silly went to Corfu instead won't be doing that again. We are getting a bit excited already were worse than a couple of kids!

Just re visited my report!! FOUR YEARS AGO!! And do you know what? Despite, people on various FB groups saying how expensive it's become; just look at the prices I quoted in 2013!! Barely any different to this year! Good on you Skiathos! 👍👍 Here's to July 2018.......Unless of course to manage a cheeky week 😉

Exactly, Tre ~ I said the same thing on one of the facebook groups recently. I think Skiathos is great value ~ once you've shelled out for the expensive flight! (Unless you manage to get a good-priced package deal) We found both Lanzarote & Ibiza more expensive, earlier this year. We had expected to spend more this summer and had budgeted 150 euros a day in June ..... NO WAY could we manage that, it was usually less than 100!!! Will probably spend a bit more when we go in three weeks , as we're in town and will be tempted by all the fab places to eat. There will also be the water taxi costs - if I can get Paul onto them (such a non-boaty person !) Hope you do get that cheeky week x

I have to confess I never really digested Tre's original report of 2013 - once the cost gets over €35 I think they are people with expensive tastes! So I've looked now and have to agree that we have noticed very little difference over the years since our first visit in 2013.
And even more exciting, the cost of our holiday has not changed much either, next year £1400 for June/July, £1350 September, for the two of us for a fortnight (package) including select seats and extra 5kg luggage.

Our June flights were £984 & September £750 (both including seats & 20kg baggage each. The price was lower for September as we are flying on a Wednesday rather than Friday. It makes no difference to us!
Our accommodation is pricier for September, though. £440 for a basic studio in the woods in June versus £1060 for a hotel smack bang in the middle of town. (Both 2 weeks & both room only)
We know we could do it cheaper if we did a package - but we wanted to stay in this particular hotel.

Ours are inclusive of self catering accommodation. So, whilst we're on about it (food) has anybody got any recipes for fresh figs? Mine are ripening faster than we can eat and give away to family and friends!

OMG Dennis, I just love fresh figs! There must be a jam or chutney recipe somewhere?

There are recipes, Tre. But ingredients for all these clever things are a problem - just where can I buy 1/2 inch (2cm) piece of fresh ginger; 1/2 cup (125ml) apple cider vinegar; 1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seeds; 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves; pinch red pepper powder?
