Had news from my friend yesterday that TUI have cancelled her flight to Skiathos at Easter. She was a first-timer and joining me there from Friday 3rd to the following Wednesday. (I’m with Jet2 and staying for a week, which she couldn’t do because of family/work commitments.) Jet2 don’t do flight only on Fridays and EasyJet are only doing Sundays and Tuesdays, so I don’t think she can make it work 😔. We’re both really disappointed as it would have been amazing to show Skiathos to her - especially with it being Pascha. Another reason to avoid Tui - have heard they’ve been cancelling other flights too.

They cancelled all Bristol Friday flights (including ours) in May and June. The only consolation was that due to our circumstances causing cancellations of our holidays, I got a full refund of June booking deposit without having to argue. (September booking cancellation required my argumentative mode!).

TUI are hiring a lot of planes this year and probably costs have escalated from some airports. I’m wondering if they are in financial trouble. I think easyJet are providing a lot of competition, but only limited airports. We’ve used them a couple of times and found them very good and very cheap. The only problem flight only with them if they cancel a flight due to bad weather they are under. No obligation to put on another flight. When we were in Mykonos people at our studios had a flight cancelled, didn’t have smart phones to look for and book another flight.

That’s a terrible situation to be in! Yes, I agree that TUI seem to be in trouble lately - and they were slow to pay out last year.

Update: Jet2 are now allowing Friday flight-only on this flight (not sure about later in the season), so my friend has re-booked to go out with them and then back on the Tuesday with EasyJet. She loses a day, as was previously returning on Wednesday BUT has saved around £200 as the EJ flight was only £39! Now I can show her just why I keep going back, at long last, and enjoy the Pascha celebrations with great company! 🎉🇬🇷

Hi Kate and gang; like yourselves I am very unimpressed by TUIs unexplained mass cancellations. A long time user of Thompson/TUI, I will watching with interest this season to see if I consider using them again; what a shame they have seem to hold the best flight dates/times from LGW that suit me. I am glad Kate’s friend will get to travel, and Dennis finally got his refund.
Good luck, and good times to all of you planning to visit the Island this year.
TrevD.

Every time I see this thread, I take the title as a request for ways in which to do so.

Hahaha - funny YM 😂. I suppose one way is not to use them! I suppose I could have called it - to be more correct - ‘I’m very disappointed with TUI’ 😉

Great for you Kate and your friend I see TUI adverts really pushing offers at the minute , desperate for bookings?

It’s quite concerning that TUI are withdrawing from the London stock market and focusing on the German equivalent. Unsure what to read into it, but may not bode well for their British market

My neighbour works for stock market and told me about the time of covid , they were close to going to the wall unless they secured massive loans. If I make any new bookings it won’t be TUI. 6 numbers and it will be private jet!
