Yassas. Just paid for 1st visit of 2014 in June & was going to book hotel for night before flight. We always fly from East Midlands when possible & usually stay do a park & fly package at the Thistle Hotel as this is only a 2 minute walk from the actual airport terminal & the car stays in the hotel carpark. However, the Thistle seems to be getting very expensive so have been looking at other hotels with parking. Already done Tripadvisor etc on hotels & looked at Holiday Extras. Just wondered if anybody has good (or bad) comments on any of the hotels at East Midlands (& any advise on the mystery hotels on Holiday Extras) Thistle was always handy because you don't have to bother with transfers etc but just getting to pricey. Can save quite a bit which will come in handy for the odd Tsipouro Meze or 3 in June!! Yamas.

Hi Graham & Caroline. We used East Mids Hilton last September. 2 rooms including transfers for £99 in total. Only a 5 to 10 min transfer. However, although rooms v comfortable we found the bar prices somewhat OTT. Would use again as very good transfer service but would take a "bottle" & save our cash to spend on the island. Enjoy

Ps. We're flying from Birmingham for our trip 30 May, (Good flight times) & have decided to skip overnight hotel & just pay taxi to & from airport ( just so we can enjoy final Mythos at airport taverna) All in all better deal when we look at, petrol costs, hotel cost, bar cost etc. The final MYTHOS rules

Enjoy I too stay at the Hilton - done it twice I do drive out at night to the New Inn (I think it is) at Shardlow and have a nice meal and good beer at reasonable prices. There are several other Pubs available there As for Hilton - GREAT - and the Transfer system was / is flawless Tall Man

We fly from Birmingham, take off 7:10am, check-in 5am, so it's 2 hours drive, which isn't hard for me (I've been up at 4am three times this week to get to London early, even longer drive time).
I use the Meet and Greet parking service, £100 for a fortnight, I ring them ten minutes out, they meet us at Departures and take the keys and the vehicle, then meet us at Arrivals with it when we land back and phone them to say we're coming out. Only have to move the cases a few yards in and out of the door. Every little helps when you're old, lazy and unfit! Probably even when you're not old.
