Anyone flown with Monarch recently?... I remember when I booked last year, I saw a thread somewhere (cant remember where now!) talking about meals on board Monarch planes.. if like us you book a chartered flight/package via tour operator as we have with Cosmos Holidays, there isn't an option to pre-book a meal.. (buy on board is the option) I am confused because obviously a mistake on their part, my first online invoice stated meals included.. after me adding option of buying seats together and further payments, the next couple and final invoices state meals not included... Now I remember in the said threads I don't know where they are now, some posters said don't bother paying for meals, as Monarch just dish them out willy-nilly?? I don't mind buying such things as toasties/paninis on board, but I would prefer a *proper* breakfast, on Monarch's website it states hot meals are only available via pre-booking, an option only available it says to schedule flight bookings, not chartered... (cosmos)... I paid for seats together, which we all know what that means... Ive spoken to cosmos and all they would offer was *requested* not guaranteed window and middle seat...no option on charter flights for purchasing numbered seats, Ive always flown with TC and paid the extra for these options.. Bit odd that half the plane will have people who had the options to pay for this that and the other, don't you think?...

Di, for the seating, turn up at checkin as early as possible so that you don't get the dregs of boarding passes (plus, like I said, getting there early means you can beg for seats over the wing with a fair chance of getting them).

Yes Dennis... we will be there early anyway as we are staying at a nearby hotel the night before and I always like to get there asap from the days when we didn't book seats.. Why do you prefer to sit over the wings?

Why do you prefer to sit over the wings? In a case of elderly forgetfulness, I have confused you with someone else who, like me, has a fear of flying, so I was reminding "you" of my advice to "you" (i.e. her) to sit over the wings where any turbulence is minimised. Isn't it embarassing to get things wrong?

As I always say, you don't have to agree with me - you have the right to be wrong. Bob

My question about embarassment was to offer comfort to other people who DO get things wrong, like you in 1957. OK, I'll admit, in 1953 in a Latin test, I translated Avunculus as Mr Avunculus, when we all know avunculus means Uncle - embarassing or what?
