After loads of storms, lightning, thunder, torrential rain, floods, power cuts, water cuts and general mayhem of late, the good weather is returning to Skiathos, just in time for our arrival on Friday. I have a sneaking feeling the pool will be chilly after all the rain, but all being well the sea will have been big enough to dilute the cold rain and still be lovely. We are agonising over what clothing to pack for the weather. Actually, Vera is doing the agonising, I'm doing the head in sand thing - I reckon if I take my woolly vest, long Johns and a big anorak I'll have covered all angles. Too hot and I take them off, cold and I put them on. That only leaves the concern about weight of clothing in my bag, which I shall solve by wearing them all and travelling as an imitation Michelin man. Anybody who meets me might like to think of staying well clear of my armpits! Three and a half sleeps to go.

22 Hours to take off. The weather has been very mixed of late but those already out there seem to be making the most of it. Which is exactly what we intend to do. But yes, if you believe in the forecasts it does appear to be improving. I will try & update as to whether or not you'll need your woollies !

Is that Thomas Cook from Manchester Tre? I'll see if I can track it using Flightradar24 - really interesting App.
Don't worry about the weather, it'll be OK (starting Friday at any rate). See you in the Bourtzi 3pm Saturday, buy you a pop? I'll be carrying a rolled up copy of The Times and whistling Pedro the Fisherman and wearing my mosquitoes T-Shirt. Vera will be sensible.
EDIT - On reflection, these plastic teeth won't whistle so I'll have to think of something else.

Well Dennis, they do say that the sun always shines on the righteous, so the truth will soon be out there. In your packing you didn't mention the knotted handkie. Have you ditched that now? Is it true that Vera has ordered a pair of flip flops from this company www.flipsidez.comwith "I'm with this Adonis" written on the bottom? Bob

I hope you all have a wonderful time, weather will be perfect. Try going for a swim in the pool when it is raining, the pool will be warm and you will be wet anyway... then go to the bar for a coffee and Metaxa mmmm

No knotted hankie for me - I have a large-ish floppy hat. Vera doesn't wear flipflops, but she gave me a T-Shirt with writing - says "She's with Stupid". I only wear it when we're going somewhere important.

Try going for a swim in the pool when it is raining, the pool will be warm and you will be wet anyway... then go to the bar for a coffee and Metaxa mmmm Those small pools will be quite after all the rain I think. And usually when it rains I get out - wouldn't be nice to experience lightning! But you're right, the weather will be perfect, no need to make plans for what to do in the rain because there won't be any (until 27th September). By the way Tre I won't be tracking your flight - I've got a delivery to Warrington. Just post that the weather is glorious please.

I hope that you and Vera have a great flight, departing on time and another wonderful holiday. If people can't find any carnations will a tin of condensed milk do? Bob
