I wonder if any of you currently on the island have had any success spotting Mrs Whicker, aka The Duckess of Alkyon. I believe that she has made it more difficult this year by ditching her clog, pump and clay pipe. I tried hard last year without success, even after trawling some of her known haunts wearing an illuminated badge, asking "has anyone seen Mrs Whicker". If this sounds like a seriously deranged stalker, let me reassure you that I am not. I'm just a fan of all her really helpful comments over the years - honestly! Bob

Maybe she's hiding away in an MP's duckess house?

Well spotted Dennis. I hope that you and Vera are enjoying your last full day on the island, until next year.

Hello Bob Well if anyone spotted me they didn't come and talk to me however I was enjoying an afternoon (and evening!) get together with our learned friend and I'm sure our next door table companions had a shrewd idea who we were if they didn't then they were showing an unhealthy interest in our conversations! The highlight was I managed to surprise, nay flabbergast, one poor unsuspecting chap who had been on my trail for years, we had played out our cat and mouse story mainly on the BB and have had a lot of fun doing it... he and his wife are an absolutely lovely couple and their warmth will stay with me for a long time. I don't think he thought I could catch him out ... but I did

So maybe there is hope for me yet. I know what you mean about the BB. I have had a couple of experiences over the years thinking " I wonder if that is...." based on the image you build up of someone you have been corresponding with. Mind you though, Facebook has spoiled that a wee bit now because we often see photos of the individuals concerned. Even your learned friend must be recogniseable to most FB users. Maybe you are right not to join! I hope that you had a great time as usual and that the weather didn't affect your plans too much. Bob

I agree with everything you say Bob it is much more fun being photo-free. If ever we know we will be on the island at the same time in the future we will pre-arrange a get together, it would be a pleasure to meet you.
We had a good time, thanks, weather was lovely until yesterday afternoon. There was some chaos at the airport with almost every flight delayed and then the weather closed in which meant 7 or 8 planeloads of passengers crammed into the building.. but it happens so we just got on with it.
Oh just had a thought, look out for my clog pump and clay pipe in Scotland next week ....

The pleasure would be all mine if we manage a meet up. How very discerning of you to be visiting God's own country. I hope our recent good weather continues for you. The bananas are ripening nicely and they say that it has been a bumper year for coconuts. Some people might ask if this is a detox trip for you after Skiathos, but I wouldn't be so unkind! Are you touring around? Bob

A detox in Scotland the home of whisky??? Possibly. There will be a bit of touring going on we'll be in the Highlands and I'm really looking forward to it, judging by the 12 day weather forecast I'm going to need a tartan raincape.
