So, we arrived home on Friday evening, after a wonderful fortnight in Troulos. We were too tired to do anything but go to bed, so it wasn't until Saturday morning that we went round checking the garden.
When I went into the greenhouse, our cucumbers had flourished, even attacking my head as I walked in, there were 8 or 10 hanging around looking menacing. So as we were shopping this morning (we had to leave it until today because I got called to do a job on Saturday), I thought to myself - let's not waste the cucumbers, let's make Tzatziki. And so I have. Two pots of Greek Style Yoghurt, a garlic and two cucumbers are the basics.
It's in the fridge now, undergoing the maturing process which I am told all good Tzatzikis must - 24 hours in a fridge. I had a sneeky taste and it's quite awful. But I have to wait until tomorrow to be sure, before I chuck it away! My hands stink. I shall have to find some secret corner of the veggie plot to tip it into.

try adding a small amount of chopped mint or mint sauce out of a jar. It always tastes better in the sun, overlooking the sea !

I don't give it much hope - adding anything else seems like pouring good money after bad. Trouble is, I daren't taste it this morning - the night before we went to Skiathos, my second last tooth broke off and I've been gobbling Paracetamols for a fortnight. So I have to see what the dentist can do about it and it would not be approriate to go in there after sampling a bit of my creation. But one thing I HAVE done is give a pot of it to granddaughter's boyfriend for his dad, who is a former Greek Cypriot. Now I must send her a text to tell him not to feel totally constrained to eat it.

oh dear toothaches miserable. Hope boyfriends dad speaks to you again ! Didn't you think of going to the dentist in skiathos, that would have been a fun experience to tell the forum ! Im not growing cucumbers or tomatoes next year, going away for two weeks at the end of june we alaways come back to everything half dead as son usually forgets to water regularly. I think each cucumber cost me about £2 this year!

Oh the curse of toothache! You say it was your second last tooth. Did you mean second from the back or do you only have two left now, or even one if the dentist had to yank it out? I am impressed though, that you were thinking of the dentist's comfort, even in your hour of need. I hope that Vera showed you some sympathy Bob

Right at this moment, I have. ....
One crowned tooth back tooth. I think of it as not mine because it's sort of false.
One much repaired tiger tooth.
One tiger tooth as was until it broke off just as we were going away.
One crown, one stump and one - to me I reckon I've really only got one.
Dentist at 9am tomorrow. I just wish he'd take them all out and be done with it, then all this dentist business would be over.
