It is time to add another beautiful Greek Island as have visited Mykonos, Zante, Crete, Rhodes, and Kos x 2. I believe this is one of the best Islands but might be going solo, and know a lot of couples go. Will I be okay as a new young 50 year old guy visiting Skiathos? I will want to get to some of the North West beaches in the day but will want some night-life at night. Can anyone make a suggestion of where to book (I was thinking mid June 2015)?

Hi d, welcome to the forum.
Mid June, great time to visit, not as hectic as July/August.
For nightlife - Best to go to Skiathos Town for that. Most other resort areas are just tavernas and small bars. So maybe stay near town.
For North-West beaches - You can take the bus to Koukounaries and walk over to the Mandraki Beaches. Or hire a vehicle (Suzuki Jimny or Quad) to visit some of the other northerly beaches.
I am sure you will be ok being solo on Skiathos. There are loads of friendly locals and boomerangers that will be there in June, as it is one of the popular times for returning visitors.
Depending on how lively you want it, other than Mykonos as I haven't been there, I would pick Skiathos over all of them. Really friendly place and plenty to do (except for maybe seeing the usual Greek Ancient Ruins).

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, pretty much what I was thinking and considering. I did wonder which was the next most busiest night-life area? As a single last time on the island of Kos I only ate in a few Tavernas and had a regular evening drink in one bar only (nearby to the apartment). It is nice to get to know the Bar/Taverna owners too, so a smaller place might be better in my case!

Well, d, I have been to all those you've mentioned, and quite a few more. I have to say of all of them, Skiathos is the one which has scored top marks, more than any other. If you're toughie, consider walking. I'm not a toughie, so it was a Jimny for us, but Kechria beach seemed to have walkers both times we went. Soft boots and bottles of water. According to the likes of Woody, it's a decent walk out. If you're there between 20th June and 4th July, one day I'll drive past you and won't spoil it for you by offerihg you a lift. Now go read all the posts for 1st Timers and things to do and you won't be disappointed (get your free map in airport Arrivals lounge when you land).

Yes, Aghia Paraskevi would be the next busiest, then Troulos, then Koukounaries for Tavernas and bars.
