Just a suggestion, why not try a bus ride to Koukounaries and back? Bus terminus at the far end of the new port.
Personally, we avoid Koukounaries because it's too sundbeds and music for our liking. But the bus ride in itself will be a pleasure - and VERY cheap too. One way tickets. Sit on the left going so that you get the sea views. In the Videos section, Jules has just posted a drive from there back to town - driving takes them less than half an hour, so the bus will take longer, but not a drag. Get the zebra bus to feel posh!
EDIT TO ADD - How about that, Bob and I posting at the same time, the same suggestion? Great minds think alike (well, Bob's is nearly as great!).

Hi Bob, my foot is getting better but taking things slowly. I stood ankle deep in the sea for 10 minutes in the hope that the salt water would help before walking back along the beach. The swelling has gone down but still being extra careful where I walk! :-):-) I do want to visit more of the island by bus but not sure what I will get to see as I only have a few more days before I fly home - - May have to become a boomeranger! :-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-)

Hi Dennis, see my reply to Bob! You are all very good with your suggestions and I must admit I enjoy your wit too! May get to do a bus journey during the day yet! Back on the bus to stop 16 tonight for dinner at the Kohyli with my brother and some of his Skiathos friends. I was going to check Jules video last night but was so tired thought I would leave for today. Like to say here that weather yesterday was 25 degrees and day before was 30!

End of Day 10
The couple I had met in the Lokadola on Saturday had recommended the Italian pizza pasta restaurant for a meal as it was run by a Greek/Italian and was an authentic Italian restaurant. I had in turn told my neighbours who had then decided to eat there last night and gave it a glowing report.
There are two Italian restaurants both with green checked tablecloths and quite close to each other but this is the second one heading towards the bus terminal if walking away from Bourtzi island.
Having been told that the garlic bread came stuffed with cheese, I asked if I could have it plain. No problem. So ordered that for my starter and salmon taglitelli (not sure spelt correctly!) for my main with glass of red and small water.
Drinks arrived followed by a small basket of three tiny rolls and a little pot of garlic butter. Had two of the rolls and was just thinking to myself that I had just had the first reasonably sized starter the whole holiday when the waiter arrived with a big smile and a very large plate and said "your plain garlic bread, enjoy" !!!!!! It was the size of half a pizza! I felt full just looking at it!! I didn't want to spoil my main so cut off a little piece, dipped it in the splattering of garlic oil and herbs on the plate and ate. Very nice.
A few minutes later, my main course arrived - again very hot - and I had my first mouthful. It was delicious. Paid my bill (19.60 with a 2 euro tip) and headed for the Lokadola for my milky coffee fix and pay my bill for last night's dinner (17.5 euros). It was only after I was walking back to my hotel that I had forgotten the coffees so will need to go back and pay for them! :-):-)

Day 11 - 25 May
I decided to take the advice of Bob & Dennis today but before going to the bus terminus I wanted to check out the lane opposite my balcony (Thymis Home). I took myself off after a breakfast of 3 cups of taking & a small Danish!
Saw a little more of Skiathos town but basically ended up on a circular walk which brought me back to the supermarket at the corner of the road the hotel is on. Took a left turn there & wandered around a couple of lanes and alleyways, eventually arriving at papadiamantis street.
Walked along the harbour to the end - more tavernas above a little beach, and called in at the Green Cafe & bought a feta cheese pie and a freshly squeezed orange juice (3.70 euros).
The new timetable has gone up at the terminus - buses leaving at 7.00 am & 8.00 am, then every 20 minutes after that. I think the last one back from Koukanaries is midnight.
I agree the beach is lovely but too many people for me! :-) I noticed there was a lot of silver glitter in the sand and found some stones close by, light in colour with the same glitter in patterns on the surface! What I didn't expect to see were the three swans happily swimming close to shore amongst the holidaymakers!! They appeared to be very much at home in this environment!! :-):-)
Only stayed on the beach for an hour (too hot for me) and then went over to the snack bar for a latte. Smallest one I have had so far (3.50). Caught the bus back to town and stopped for another coffee in the harbour (3 euros). There were 3 cats in the taverna, one heavily pregnant, one that was very well fed and a lovely but extremely thin black Tom who was very friendly! I had nothing to give them but when the waitress saw them around my table, she took a scoop of dried food from a container in the back and fed them at the side of the taverna.
Walking back to the hotel I noticed that it was 25 degrees at 5.30 pm! :-):-):-):-):-)

A good cure for a twisted ankle is to wee on it. (That may sound difficult, but just stand ankle deep in the sea and use everybody else's). Seems like you missed the black swan at Koukounaries? What about the zebra bus? We all know what the temperature's like, thank you, we look every day (twice). I forgot to mention that Vera's favourite drink is a Frappé - iced coffee, in a glass - she has it weak, very milky and no sugar. Most Greeks prefer it very strong (even black) and very sweet.

Maybe, Bob. But in reality, I just like being disgusting!

Thanks Dennis, just stopped laughing now at the thought of your cure for a sprained ankle and Bob's response! :-):-):-) I'll tuck that one away for future reference!
I have only ever had a frappe once, on my first ever holiday to Greece (Spetses). There was a villa at the corner of the road leading to our rooms and a young woman was staying there for the summer (it belonged to her uncle). We used to speak as we were passing every day and one afternoon on our way back to the room she invited us in for a coffee. It would have been churlish to refuse so we accepted. What we weren't expecting was the coffee! It came in very tall glasses, black with ice & accompanied by a bunch of grapes. I wasn't a big coffee drinker back then and had never had it black. First sip, it was disgusting! The sugar, unfortunately, lay at the bottom and with it being cold had not dissolved! She asked what we thought about it, "oh lovely" as we were stuffing grapes into our mouths at a rate of knots!! :-):-):-) when she popped off to the kitchen, I'm afraid most of mine ended up in a conveniently positioned plant pot. Seeing my near empty glass she asked if I would like another. I politely refused and soon after we made our excuses! After that we always found one reason after another as to why we couldn't join her for coffee again!

I often wonder if the plant survived! :-):-):-):-) Never had another since.

Well, I can assure you that Frappé the way Vera has it is better than a latte, because it's ice cold - I have mine a bit stronger and with sugar. Here's the Koukounaries Black Swan (not on the beach, in the lagoon behind the beach).
