Do you have to walk from the main road to these studios from the transfer coach. We don't usually use a tour operator but have done this year. I have recently had a slight back problem and wonder how I am going to manage to carry my luggage. I cant use a backpack so will have a suitcase with wheels. So looking forward to returning to Skiathos after 15 years.

Hi Diana, It is about a 15/20 min walk from the main road but don't panic. You will only have to carry your hand luggage. Main luggage is dropped of by a small truck at your apartments, it does not go on the transfer bus with you. The alternative is to get a taxi to the Elizabeth from airport approx 20 euros, but do let your holiday rep know you are doing this. There is a taxi rank outside the airport.

Thank you. We have been with a tour company many years ago so I know to let the rep know if you are doing anything different. It's a relief to know that the hold luggage is transported for you. I am accompanying someone who is disabled and now I have had a prolapsed disc so I am not lifting anything for a while other than a large Alpha or Mythos. Do they do Raki on Skiathos now?

The local equivalent gut rot to Raki is Tsipouro. Drink it just the same way, with your mouth closed and not breathing!

We are now at Elizabeth studios and they are perfect for us. All our luggage transported to our studio no carrying at all. Coach transfer about 20 mins. Studios spotless and Elizabeth very welcoming and friendly cannot find any faults with this choice we have made.

On your return journey, the luggage truck will collect it all and deliver it to the airport for you to find...

I'm sure I spot my case, the Samsonite one third from the left and I haven't even been there this year!!!

I think it was perhaps two years ago - I'm judging by the smallness of the stack, compared with the English Friday they had five flights all due at the same time - then, the bags must have reached round the corner!

We had no trouble with finding our luggage on Wed June 17th. Coach dropped us by the luggage and as we had booked assistance a wheel chair was brought and our cases taken to the departures and we were taken all the way through to the departure lounge and when it came time to board again we had the assistance of a wheelchair. I can not thank the staff at the airport and the rep on the Thomas Cook coach (Andrew) for all the help they gave me. I am not usually disabled but due to an accident just before the holiday I had to use the facility. Bristol airport was very good as well.

Previous 2 trips I've walked to the airport from town trundling my little case with me so I always know where it is. This year I seem to have got a deal which includes 'airport transfers' but if the pickup times are too early or if they have a lot of pickups/dropoffs to do I'll probably opt out and make my own way, I'll still probably get to the accommodation before the transfer bus does!
