Sunday, picked up the Jimny and drove into town, parked near bus stop 4 and walked down the steps the ladies quickly disapearing into the shops. I walked through town and found the steep steps up to the clock tower, what a lovely view. Took a picture of the infamous webcam! I then made my way down to the Bourtzi but no sign of Dennis and Vera!
We then drove back along the main road and turned off near bus stop 8 to do the climb up towards the monastery and stopped at the Panorama restaurant for lunch, what a superb view looking down over the town. A cruise ship had moored off Megali Amos beach and small boats were dissgorging the passengers into town. Onward to the Monastery and then back to our hotel in preparation for Greek night, lovely BBQ greek, dancers and plenty of wine/beer, woke up this morning a tad delicate!

Monday, after downing paracetomols, rennie etc we were out in the Jimny heading for Kechria beach, unfortunately due to some dodgy navigating we ended up up at the dogs home! Finally we made it, parked at the top and made our way down, as we walked across the grass I saw a couple sitting eating an ice cream I thought they looked familiar but as soon as I saw the Mr Grumpy teashirt I new it had to be the famous Dennis and Vera! We had a nice chat and then they left to climb the hill.
Nice Beer in the Kechria taverna and then we drove round to Ligaries Beach, had a lovely meal in the taverna there I would highly recommend this place, we had Tzatziki, lovely Greek salad, Cheese Pie, Cheese Saganaki, 2x Fried Anchovies and a superb whole Sea Bream plus 2 Mythos, Lemonade and a complimentary Yoghurt and Honey with cinnamon sweet, 55euros. I think this was the best meal we have had so far, very polite and friendly staff as well. Rest of the day on Ligaries beach a beautiful setting with a lovely breeze coming in off the sea.
Back to the hotel for shower and then out to the Angostera bar tonight.

Kechria is well worth the effort, lovely beach, bit dodgy getting in the water but we wear swim shoes now we've learnt our lesson! Have only ever had a drink in Tropical Taverna at Ligharies but this year will aim for a meal too, we normally eat at Kechria. Roll on Friday,!

Tuesday, last day. Cloudy start but very warm. H.I and daughter got the bus into town I walked to the bus stop end of Kouk' beach. Got set up on our favourite spot next to Thalassa Beach Bar, chilled music and lovely cooking smells. (I know dennis there is music playing all day long!) Strange weather a mixture of cloud, occasional spits of rain, intense heat and rumbles of thunder. Had a few beers and a lovely Pork Gyros. Packed up at 5ish and it rained for the whole walk back,about a mile. luckily as Dennis mentioned yesterday I didnt have to worry about my hair! Now packing case and getting ready for our last evening, flying home tomorrow but on the plus side the forecast is good and we are lucky to live on the East Suffolk coast about half a mile from the beach. Mind you its not Skiathos is it?
Have a great time to everyone out here or still to arrive, this is our 4th time and I love it more with each visit. Yammass!

I definitely have to join you in saying we get to love this place more each visit. And in wishing a good time to all here and due to be here in the future (including ourselves on 11th September, Hee, Hee). It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family and if our paths cross again, remind me who you are, because I am terrible with names and faces. Vera and I wish you a good flight home and come back soon.  |

Friday, in England, well what can I say landed in Gatwick on Wed evening at 5.45 pm 35 degrees! Done the garden thursday cleaned my car, and had a cruise around a few pubs and went fishing this morning, now having bbq. Must be the first time I have come home from abroad and its been hotter at home! Hope you haven't had any more rain in Skiathos, ha ha!!
