Superman T-Shirt has joined my fraying gardening wardrobe. I was considering getting a new one in a T-Shirt shop in Skiathos town, but the only ones there were made with very rubbery graphics - that makes my chest sweat like a tap so I'm having to go look what they've got in ASDA. I'm taking great cared of my Mr Men and Mosquitos!

Sadly, we haven't got anywhere near the amount of pledges we needed. It is now in the lap of the gods as to whether the nice man gets money to fix the camera.

What a great pity that there isn't more people prepared to help fund a replacement camera. I'm sure that there was many more than 9 users of the webcam. We can only hope now that the municipality manages to find the money, although I don't think that it will be high on their priority list, given the austerity measures they are facing. I just hope that they don't interpret the poor response to your poll as a lack of interest. Thank you very much for your efforts on this Dennis. Bob

A great shame, really. Unfortunately, I can't imagine Vera taking kindly to the idea of camping in the airport for a few days rattling a bucket - I'd love to try it, but I value my skin!

Hey, I've just discovered Greece has a gorgeous Minister of Tourism, Elena Kountoura.
So now, everybody, put your minds onto how we can contact her, she's bound to be interested in encouraging tourism to Skiathos.

I just found an email address, info@parliament.gr and have sent the following... FOR ATTENTION OF MRS ELENA KOUNTOURA, MINISTER OF TOURISM.
Dear Mrs Kountoura,
I am writing to see if you can assist with a webcam for Skiathos town. There has been a webcam near the church above the town ever since I started going there several years ago. I and many other lovers of Skiathos took great pleasure from viewing the webcam on the internet between our visits there.
Unfortunately, a storm in November 2014 damaged the camera and it has not yet been replaced. I tried recently to persuade members of a website devoted to Skiathos to pledge the money to buy a new camera for the town, but without success.
skiathosboomerang.freeforums.net/thread/455/poll
Could I please beg you to do all you possibly can to make money available for this. I am very sure that the cost of a new camera would be more than paid for by the extra interest it will generate in the island.
Thank you for your attention
Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sorry, Superman outfit is now consigned to the gardening wardrobe. I doubt whether Mr Grumpy would be a suitable alternative.

By the way, today's Radio 5 has been full of the joys of "crowd funding". I've heard of it, but have absolutely no idea of how to do it. Does anybody else?

Well, it's now pretty much three weeks since I emailed the Ministry of Tourism, sadly there has been no response.
Looks like a bucket in the airport is the last resort!

More to the point, I think with yesterday's resignation of the Prime Minister, she may no longer be the minister.
