When I was researching all things Skiathos I came across the following blog. This chap is into a lot of things but he has written a blog about his three trips to Skiathos - you may enjoy - could be winter reading for quite a lot of us Http://couchmagpie.com/2013/06/14/skiathos-day-1-/

Hi Windy, yes he is good. I started reading his blog again last night which made me think about posting the link to this site. The first time I read it I was intrigued by a comment he made about solo travellers. Cannot quote verbatim (or remember the day/year of the blog) but he mentions about seeing solo travellers and he cannot make his mind up as to whether they are brave or sad! I remember telling friends and colleagues who went travelling on their own that I thought they were really brave and I couldn't do that myself. They used to shrug their shoulders and tell me that once you had the first one under your belt there was nothing to it and some even said that they couldn't see themselves travelling any other way. I still thought of them as being brave (never sad) but could never see myself doing the same. Well I have four solo trips under my own belt now and would you know, I don't consider myself brave either! So I suppose that just leaves sad! Just kidding! I think if couch magpie had approached any of the solos and actually chatted to them, he would have revised his own thinking on that subject. For me it is about the adventure and pushing those boundaries and meeting new people and I can honestly say that of all my holidays, my solo ones have been the best! Perhaps I should have left this comment on his blog ........:-)

Thanks for finding this amy, good stuff. I'll probably slowly get through it over the winter :-)I didn't go solo in 2013 but he might be referring to me if if we crossed paths in 2012 ;-)Looks like he flies from EMA too, the airport is very close to Donington race track which also hosts the music festival he mentions.

single travellers are not sad, not everyone is lucky enough to have a partner/relative or friend to travel with. If that was me I would rather go to skiathos alone, where everyone is so friendly, than sit at home. All the single travellers on ta forum and here of course sound , interesting, bubbly and fun and know how to enjoy life.

Cariad I have to agree with you (although I am somewhat biased). I have met some very nice people, both singles and couples, on Corfu, Halki and Skiathos. I cannot complain and when it comes to the locals on Skiathos, well they certainly look after you. I would agree with you wholeheartedly, going to Skiathos alone is so much better than staying at home.

Here's an interesting thing. On his sixth day report, he posts a picture of a white Jimny - it's Angela's, and it's parked outside Villa Maria.
I have to say I'm a little disappointed that he occasionally uses language which I prefer not to see on a public website. Just me!
