Evening and salutations from alfatime - i am still writing my 2nd skiathos feedback from 2015 and am suffering from writers block. It is hard to remember everything without writing it on a daily basis while you are there but rest assured I will pen my latest exploits sooner rather than later as I am sure you will all have enjoyed reading from other members on here who have taken time to share their experiences. So in the meantime I am after some help - next year am planning on a hop over to Skopelos and want to stay in town - can anyone recommend a decent hotel or villa that has the wow factor and maybe a restaurant to take the other half to for 2x nights ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards Alfatime.

Hi alphatime, the wow factor at my apartment (Melrose) was the breakfasts produced by Maria so cannot help with your hotel search sorry. Have you tried booking.com? However, I can definitely recommend the Zoupa restaurant. Had a wonderful first meal there and would have had my last meal there on the island if I had not had an unfortunate accident the night before. It does have mixed reviews on TA but if you read my feedback in the 2015 section "My first trip to the Sporades" it should give you some idea. Good look with the hotel search.

Thank you will have a look on TA for reviews and look to book on booking.com/TA whichever is cheaper. Quite looking forward to trecking round Skopelos on a mission to find their finest cheese pies - Is it wrong to have one for breakfast, lunch and tea ?

I am not a world authority on the subject, but last time I checked, it was OK to have cheese pies for breakfast, lunch and tea. And if you are an accredited chease pie fancier, you should endeavour to try them between meals too. Normal accompaniment would be an Alpha, with your own preference as to small or large.
PS - when we were there in September, I seem to recall a cheese pie shop just up the hill a little from the port, where they had cheese pies about two feet square. I didn't notice whether you had to take a complete one or just have a lump cut off.

We shall be there - skiathosboomerang.freeforums.net/thread/387/list-who-skiathos-2016Our usual Bourtzi time is early-ish afternoon, most days, we just like it there. Photo taken on my iPhone by a small child only about this high. I asked if she knew how to do photos with iPhone and she said, whilst looking at me like I was quite stupid, of course she knew!

It goes to show two things - what a trusting old man I am and how clever youngsters are. That little girl was so small I expected her to kind of shy away from it and maybe mum would snap us. But we are really pleased with this and I even look human for a change!

That child was more intelligent than you give her credit for Dennis. She didn't inflict your knees on us ! Nice to see Vera in the photo. Bob
