Hi Di, as the forum is really quiet just now,how about giving us a wee insight into your trip down under? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be interested to hear what you got up to! Bob

I most certainly will NOT permit a discourse on toilet trips.

But here's an interesting thing.
The other day, Vera came across an old Post Office Savings Book in the back of a drawer. On inspection, it showed a balance as at September 1995 of £1.
So we looked into things and filled in the form and sent it off to get the money - I mean, 20 years of interest has gotta be worth a few smackers innit?
The cheque arrived yesterday - £1.47. She will no doubt contribute it towards our next holiday in Skiathos.
On the subject of finance, my last tooth fell off a couple of days ago. 'Twill cost £175 to xray, extract and add an extra tooth to my existing plate. But that's not the end of it. The plate will not fit and my upper plate has worn, so I need new both sets - estimate £900. Forget the new iPhone then!
Unless I get the 113 million tonight. In which case I shall hire a replacement to stand in for me as Father Christmas at the Fayre tomorrow, shoot off to Skiathos and hire a person to find us a selection of properties. Only with that much, I'll have one with THREE pools, plus a nice big pond for my fishes.
There, that was a nice non-toilet insight wasn't it?
I shall watch out for Di's insight - I have a nephew somewhere out there.

Phew Dennis. Makes you wonder how they arrive at their prices. Certainly puts the cost of holidays in proportion. Bob

Yes, Bob. Actually I was wondering about that whilst in the waiting room on Friday morning and I had to admit they have a few things to cover - Receptionist, Dental Nurse, Dentist, Hygienist and Dental Technician. That's five people's wages and if they were all on minimum wage, that'd be about £35 an hour plus employer's NI and pension contributions. Then there's premises and those drilling machines and xray machines and fancy chairs. I'm not saying I loved the £80 for just the half hour consultation (and I'll question it next week when I'm in again because I'm sure it was advance payment not costs on the day), but it does start to make sense when you take all these things into consideration - I don't suppose the dentist is on £6.80 an hour and two (part time) receptionists have been there ever since I first started there over forty years ago, so surely they've had a pay rise?
