Are all the cheap hotels in Scotland like this one? I will not identify it, but at £45 bed and breakfast I'm obviously getting what I'm paying for (Travelodge would have been £90 without breakfast). Trip advisor reviews were much better than this!
Rooms numbered 1, 3, 2, 11, 5, 4, 7. Or is it some strange Scottish humour?

nothing to worry about Dennis. The other rooms will have been closed by the environmental health department - probably due to an investation or poor hygiene. The rooms that are open are probably OK.

Hmm. I think they forgot to close my room for all of the above reasons, plus a few more!
Still at least eating was better this time - last time I came home too early for Biggar fish n taters and too late for Abington full English, but I've just achieved the latter. :-)

Here's the view from my room. I don't know whether the stuff on the window ledge was the beginnings or remains of a bird's nest. Fortunately that 'thing' switched off when the kitchen closed at 9pm and didn't come on again until 6am - it was very audible.

I hope you paid extra for the view! That was probably an Osprey building its nest, and the pipe was providing heat to defrost your window so that you could see. Some people are never happy! Bob

The pipe was either pumping out kitchen, or sucking in "clean". I'd guess if pumping, that's the reason the osprey died and didn't finish building!
