I thought this was an interesting bit of poetic licence!

Yes Dennis, just over three months of flights, 3 times per week doesn't really add up to 2 million.
Say 250 people per flight, that's 750 per week. Approx 14 weeks = 10500 people, not quite the 2 million.

Yes, Woody. My own guess was probably 2 million a year to the whole of Greece - if you've seen other articles from ekathimerini (e.g. cut and paste in Ian's blog), you will, I'm sure, be familiar with their struggles with English (or perhaps it's Google Translates struggles?). Having said which, I'd hate to have them experience my struggles with Greek!

Skiathian has blogged a correction to the numbers which he recalculates at 7,644, based on that aircraft's capacity (he says) of 98 per flight. But I think you can only count one way flights (I do both directions, but I'm only one tourist, innit?), so I calculate 3,822 extras.

Great for those "darn sarth" but I'll stick with Manchester. Unless....... I do have a cousin down there, could park the car on her drive for the duration, she'd give us a ride to the airport ..... ?? Mmm!! Food for thought.
