Hi all, We have been to Skiathos twice, last time about 4 years ago (when I fell pregnant ). Since then I have been addicted to this forum and its predecessor as well as tripadvisor, soaking up all the reviews and every bit of information I can. I am so excited to say we will be returning this year with our daughter, staying in Troulos again. Staying at Skiathos Premier, it's much more than we have previously spent but as we will be in the apartment every night thought we should splash out on a bit of luxury. Sorry for my long post but so excited just had to share. Kirsty

Theresa beat me to it. No worries - after all, you're staying right upstairs for Vareli Taverna, one of our favourites. Have a great time.

Thanks folks, we are flying 16 June from Newcastle, staying for 2 weeks. Last meal we had there Dennis we were plagued by wasps, it was much later in the season though and the owners were great at swatting them!

The owners are part of the attraction for us, so it's a blessing their food is so good too!
We have never been bothered by wasps OR mosquitoes for all our visits, June and September - I guess it's because I'm so good looking! LOL.

On reflection, not a guess, a simple fact.

The mosquitos must find something attractive about me, I've had some bad reactions. Will be trying everything I've read on these forums - gin and tonic, vitamin b, anti histamines, will draw the line at Marmite though!
Can I ask, I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a bus to take you across the tarmac from the plane now, is this right?

Apparently, days of walking across the tarmac are no more. It'll probably take longer by bus!! Alas, it seems Dennis & I could be waving to you as you leave ;( We arrive (separately!) 30 June. Ask away any queries/questions & look forward to your stay.

Thanks Tre for confirming my thoughts, I agree far quicker to walk! Hi Woody, thanks for the forum, I have a regular look, it's a great source of info and opinions. No plans for more kids, might have shared a bit too much info in my original post!

No, Kirsty, it's NOT quicker to walk- they've built a nice new car park for planes so they park halfway to Xanemos beach now! But don't worry, our friend Costas is one of the bus drivers and they do it quite quickly.

Have a great time , you may not be staying in every night. Children are welcomed everywhere in skiathos, we used to let ours have a sleep in the afternoon so they can stay up at night and you can have a lie in. you dont want to be too early to the beach some scary sights at 8am on troulos beach !!!

Aw c'mon Cariad, I'm not THAT scary! And remember, at 8am there are hardly any tourists on Troulos beach.

i remember walking along megali ammos beach into town about 6-30 am one morning when i woke up early, the sea was so still like silk, i was surprised that there were quite a few early swimmers, its lovely walking through the town early, seeing youngsters walking home happily arm in arm from the clubs. Workmen having their first coffee of the day, cats exploring the food remnants from the tavernas in the bins. I went to the kiosk to get my husband some cigarettes as i knew he was nearly out, (hows that for devotion), then i hopped on bus back to bus stop 5 by angeliki, husband still asleep ! I recommend anyone to see the town gradually waking up
