Well, Baldy took off almost on time (maybe 20-30 minutes late, which the airlines seem to think is on time). And he landed over an hour ago. Should be well into his accommodation, unpacked, swift beer, sign into the wi-fi and tell us he set off almost on time and landed over an hour ago.

And I've done "phase one" of the packing process! Just need to get rid of my stinking cold before Friday! Ok, the gin & tonic is helping! Plus, homemade Beef Giouvetsi baking in the oven

Well, I'm trying to work out when to have my holiday haircut. Mmm? Too early yet Dennis! But I'm thinking at least a week before to give your ears time to re align !! That's the advice I give to OH John anyway!

Far too early, still over seven weeks to go! It's a knotty problem coping with head, ears, nose and eyebrows - they all seem to propagate at different speeds! Thank goodness I don't have to worry about my bikini line.
EDITED to add - because I don't wear a bikini.

Hi folks, Thank you Dennis for informing me I arrived safely, good flight wth Thomas cook ,although a delayed departure flight only took 3hours 10 minutes so arrived near enough on schedule. Another bonus TC have added Hendricks and fever tree tonic to drinks menu. Over 20 degrees when we arrived, didn't notice any major changes at the airport. Dennis correct with his assumption,' unpacked out for a swift beer' only with visits to fresh bar,old Port house and then Main Street decided may be best to update to day rather than last night. I would say town about 85 percent open, wandering round today its obvious refurbishment works still ongoing in a few places. A bonus for us is we have clear blue sky's and temperatures of 27 degrees. Only large trip boats, and the calypso running, old Port harbour is virtually empty of vessels. Good news is for those about to arrive the boat taxis are up and running. We are staying at the atlas hotel on papadiamati street, a little gem, owner Olga (ex piscine hotel) is an excellent host. Our balcony overlooks the street ,a fabulous location, Had a good wander round this morning and never came across any major changes, not many of cocktail bars in old Port open for business yet, The Meltemi hotel is fully scaffolded out and it looks like a major refurbishment well under way. Don't know what it is about the place, but it has a magic that makes you unwind immediately and temporarily forget life's problems. Speaking to our neighbours ,who are also boomerangers , they said the place just gets under your skin. Anyway feel a Mythos coming on, will update later in week 😎👽

Haircuts are something I don't need to worry about, I come complete with own solar panel. Slight smattering of cloud this morning but still nice and warm. Boat taxi to kanapitsa, hoping beds are on the beach, if not long lunch in the taverna, followed by a stroll along the headland to Nostos to catch boat back to town.

Wonderful meal last night in lo & la , great food and great service, evidently new chef this year, has previously worked on the island and just returned. Today has been constant sunshine, clear blue sky's and a welcoming Light breeze off the sea, Spent the day on megali ammos beach, midday drinks in Thessaloniki followed by a late lunch in cafe del mar, both great venues with excellent service. Walked long way back via Plakes, wonderful views over bourtzi and along the coastline, looking down sea is crystal clear,,walk well worth the effort Picking up a jimmy tomorrow for a couple of days, no particular route//plan just wherever we end up, I'm sure we shall discover somewhere new. For those due to arrive Friday, word locally is Saturday set to be a scorcher 😎

We have hired a jimmy for a couple of days, so today headed to end of the island, spent the morning on Elini beach, what a beautiful location, beds on beach , taverna open only a dozen or so tourists, plus swans, both white and black. Sun shining , heaven. Decided to head to vrom beach ,used to be a favourite of ours in late 90s, family run taverna ,bob Marley playing as sunset, unfortunately more recently turned into a party beach, But today completely dead, no beds on beach, new taverna/club bar busy with refurb works , location still idillic Moving on we ended back at Kanapitsa, pleasant afternoon but became overcast about 4pm. Strange no water sports available, hut empty no advertising, and no motorboats etc anchored in the bay??? Main restaurant in taverna due to open tonight, and last of sunbeds being placed on beach It feels busier than when we arrived and each day anothet shop or taverna opens.

Our final day ,not flyinfg till late this evening and have managed to arrange a late check out, so going to spend the day on megali Amos. Whilst a bit sad about our pending departure,we have had a wonderful ,stress free week ,both wife and I certainly relaxed and batteries recharged. It's now my turn to read all threads from other forum members visiting the island, all be it with a hint of jealousy. Tre hope you and John have a great time, and look forward to your updates
