I like the sun loungers. I don't like laying on a towel (it's just not comfortable over any extended stay at the beach), and I don't like being stuck on the beach with the temperatures in the high 30s for 7 hours and no shade.
When I go to the family caravan I take a foldable camping chair - a parasol never appears to be absolutely necessary.
The problem with sun loungers is that you're stuck to where they're situated, and they may of course all be taken if you're not up early.
The problem with camping chairs is that it's really too bulky to take 2 + a parasol on the plane, and (of course) you're sat up rather than laying down/reclined.
What are the alternatives? Can you rent locally? Even buying and leaving might be cheaper than 8 euros a day!

When we were planning to go out for 8 weeks, before Paul was ill last year, we had talked about buying a couple of lightweight folding chairs & a brolly from Maria's supermarket in Koukounaries to save ourselves a fortune. We priced them up the year before & they weren't very expensive.

Have you tried asking at your accommodation to see if they have any parasols that previous guests have left behind? Would you use a lilo on the beach I believe they are comfortable if you don't overfil them. I'm waiting for the day when someone somewhere can make a sunbed that is more than 18 inches off the ground then people (me mainly) with poorly knees can a) get down and b) get back up again

The thought of loads of people running up and down the beach every three hours to inflate or re-inflate these is quite something! Bob

I've bought 2 of these inflatable things to take to Ibiza with me next week. £19 each in a local discount store. In Ibiza, depending on where you go it costs between 16 and 30 euros a day for 2 beds and a shade. If nothing else filling the things with air might improve my fitness.
