Okay, I know it's not an exact science, but...
What's the earliest and/or latest you'd go to Skiathos for a fortnight's 'summer holiday'?
I know you can't guarantee anything - even this year late July/early August we had to thunderstorms.
But I'm looking for dates between which you'd be very unlucky indeed not to get 10 good days from 14.
Thoughts?

I think the earliest we'd go would be mid May. As you know we arrived last week of June this year and it was extremely hot, 48 degrees being the hottest day in full sun on Pap St, but that was an exceptional two weeks of extremely hot weather. We left on 7 July and apparently the weather broke a few days later. I would imagine mid May with temperatures in the mid 20's would be nice; a comfortable but not oppressive heat. Mid 40's was certainly too hot for my tender English skin.
A few years ago we went to Santorini for a fortnight on 16 September and the weather broke the last 3 days of the holiday. Santorini is considerably further south than Skiathos so I'm thinking the first week in September would be the latest I'd want to be on the island.

Cheers.
I'm guessing mid-late September is like a pleasant UK summer's day, then?
You know, not hot, but shorts aren't outrageous.

You've got-it-in-one YM. Santorini wasn't cold but very wet; so-much-so the main street in Kamari was ankle deep in water cascading off Mesa Vouno. Jeans/trousers would of ended up pretty wet/soggy.

We've been in May in the past, but the weather can be changeable & the sea is freezing! We like to go out in mid-June and early or mid-September. Usually in June, you can get a couple of cooler days/evenings, but it's starting to warm up nicely and there are fewer mosquitoes & wasps.
This September was unusually hot. We flew out on 30th August & home on 13th September & I didn't wear a cardi for the whole two weeks (I'm nesh, so it was a very nice surprise). We had to use the air con at night, which we didn't in June this year (9th-23rd). There was one rainy & stormy evening this September, but it stayed really warm throughout. When we left, it got even hotter - high 30's! Our neighbours have just come back after two weeks & they had just a couple of rainy days and chilly evenings, but over-all it was beach weather.
I think it's impossible to predict ~ but that Skiathos is just perfect whenever you choose!

If you're not wanting to swim, how is it on the beach, and at night in town?
I appreciate there's Greece and Huddersfield .
Climate in Huddersfield:
Warmest is July/August (low , high )
Skiathos:
It's that temperature (or better) April to October.

We were there from 8th to 22nd September this year and it was exceptionally hot and not a drop of rain (somebody said it rained one night at 10pm for about 17 raindrops then stopped!). But in previous years, we've had lovely weather, some rain, which is more the norm, but not enough to spoil our holiday or interfere with our enjoyment. It usually rains when we hire a jeep, so our hostess looks forward to it so that she can leave out watering the garden that day. We let her down both in July and September this year! Personally I prefer September because the sea temperature has had the benefit of a summer of sunshine and is warmer than earlier months.
