Oh well the threat of redundancy has finally reared its ugly head finish in two weeks and as the oil and gas industry is on its a..e looks like it's sunbathing in a chilly east Suffolk garden! I must admit looking at some of the deals at the moment it's tempting to invest the measly government minimum redundancy payout on a cheeky week on the Isle but practicality must prevail! Dennis it doesn't look like we will meet on kechria Beach this year! To all who are going this year have a great time and make sure you post some reports or pics. I'm going to do a Greek meze night on Saturday to keep my spirits up!!

Hi exgreekgod so sorry to hear that the threat was real! Was going to do a "shout out" to you as you hadn't been on the forum for a few months but noticed you back on again in the last week so thought you may have been one of the lucky ones. Any prospects on the horizon?

Hi Amy thanks for your post, I will find something I have never been out of work in my 37 years since school, maybe I could get a job in Skiathos selling beer!

I'm so sorry to hear that, god. Being out of work is soul-destroying - I had a short period about 45 years ago, so I know how you will be feeling.
I shall just wish you a new job in the next couple of weeks, complete with a substantial golden handshake and two weeks paid holiday starting on 24th June. See you there!

Good that you are being positive. I was under the same threat back in February but was one of the lucky ones. I have been made redundant 3/4 times during my working life so I do know what you are going through. Best wishes for getting a better paid job over the next couple of weeks.

Update! Made redundant yesterday and start a new job Monday week! Looks like it should work out well, thinking of booking a week or maybe 10 days early September? . Amy have a great time and the same to everyone else who's going. Dennis might see you after all!

What great news - the new job I mean, not the redundancy and a trip to Skiathos to look forward to as well! I hope you enjoy both. Bob

Congratulations on the new job, god, and if you can possibly manage it I'll buy you a beer (or anything else) at Kechria (or anywhere else you fancy) (and one for Mrs god and Miss god too). We arrive on 9th September for two weeks if you can aim for that sort of time.
