Alekos. Click on the words “Reply to topic”, not on “quote”.

Is anyone else baffled, or is it just me?

Is anyone else baffled, or is it just me? I draw two possible conclusions :- Either Alekos' ID has been hacked and is now doing silly stuff to us Or Alekos has used the wrong way of posting by using the "Quote" button instead of the Reply button. He/she has done 'proper' replies/comments previously, so I wonder about hacking.
If it were down to me, I'd do away with the quote button because I'm a little tired of reading through existing posts which I've already read, when the subject of a topic is surely quite clear and it is easy enough to draw attention to the current point simply by saying the poster's name rather than posting a quote of everything he/she has already said and which we've already read and understood. If we all quoted instead of replying, very soon a post would become impossibly long, 5,000 words quoted in various insets, to be able to add "Joe soap, I agree". Just saying. (The quote function is also an easy way for a hacker/spammer to draw attention to their drivel).

You can always just not read the quote, I suppose. The best bit of the quote function is, if you’re replying to one point/question in a long post, you can delete most of the post, and just quote the bit you’re replying to (see above). The downside is that this is VERY fiddly on a mobile. Much easier on a PC.

I clicked on " quote " button ..... brain transplant needed !!!! Hurray, you’re not a hacker/scammer! See what I mean about quote? The post above yours occupies the full screen of my iPhone even with half the quote deleted and when we read the retained part of the quotation, it seems (to me at least) entirely familiar because I (and presumably you too) had already read it, a part of my life that I shall never recover.

You can always just not read the quote, I suppose. EXCEPT THAT I have to read it in order to discover that I can choose to just not read it. 🥴

Well guys, we’re currently in Yorkshire hunting for rhubarb, steam train to Whitby today, cases in boot of the car, straight to the airport on Monday, now counting down in hours. Really looking forward to our visit to Skiathos, been a strange couple of years for everyone, some form of normality hopefully this season
