Thanks for update, glad youve arrived safely. i shall be watching our flight later to see if delayed, this time next week, we shall be in escape with a glass of wine and lunch hopefully. ii rang round taxi firms yesterday prices had gone up considerably from 2019, expected with petrol costs. This morning an e mail popped up offering me 20% off parking so its only now £4 more than taxi and thats for car park right by terminal,so not relying on taxi being on time etc so think thats now looking likely.

What a smashing post.
Sorry to hear of the issues, but so happy to hear that, every time you hit a problem, there appeared to be someone who was prepared to step in and help.
Have a great holiday.

Sorry to hear about your hassles Dennis, but maybe you shouldn’t have posted your previous comments about how smoothly you thought it would go! 😉. At least you are there now. I followed your approach and posted a photo on the Boomerangers Facebook page. I know what you meant about the cheese and ham toastie. I had one a couple of weeks ago en route for Rhodes and it was so hard I almost broke my teeth! I’m sorry to hear that Vera can’t swim, with her arm,but I don’t know how she would swim without it. ( be honest, you would be disappointed if somebody didn’t say that!). Here’s hoping you have a great time and that your homeward journey goes more smoothly that your outward one!

If I was a suspicious person I would think you were being sarcastic Dennis. Just as well I am not! 🙈 Have a great holiday and I hope Vera’s arm doesn’t restrict her too much.

Saturday. Last night we ate at Vareli, both had kleftiko after tsatsiki starter. Delicious, but I can’t tell you how much it cost, because I ratherdisgraced myself and fell asleep before the bill arrived. Vera had already said she was paying anyway, so I didn’t need to wake up until everybody had enjoyed a giggle and to walk back to our room.
When we got back, I took off my glasses and hearing aids, but forgot my teeth and clothes. So I woke at 6:30 this morning fully clothed (well, t-shirt and shorts) with upper teeth still in place and horrible, whilst bottom teeth were under my left shoulder!
Having shopped last night we were OK for making our breakfasts, but we then dillies and dallied and didn’t set off to town until nearly 10am. The first bus to arrive was one of the new ones and I have decided (after another ride in one) that I don’t like them. Driver was quite abrupt and when Vera was struggling with her purse he told her to get on down the bus and pay when she had the cash. Drove off rapidly enough to make it difficult for us both to get to a seat and aspired to be a kamikaze taxi drivers from the way he threw the bus around.
Nikos taverna after a little light shopping - a couple of dresses, two pairs of sandals and I forget what else. Except I bought a bunch underpants - I was going commando because Vera put out my brand new undies and I decided I don’t like them and took them out, but forgot to put others in! A gyros each, beer for me and frappé for Vera. Then she went to look at some more stuff whilst I stayed to have another of both. Robert Lear and his wife stopped to say hello. Then off to the Bourtzi for a beer and a frappé. Don’t misunderstand all this moving about - I’m no roadrunner and since her fall Vera is very slow, so we are overtaken by just about anything that moves! Return on another kamikaze new bus was not a pleasant ride. I left Vera in the room whilst I went to get my wine and a bottle for our host’s husband Kostas, a really nice man. In the shop I said I wanted a good cognac and she said if that’s what you want, he’ll like this - aged tsipouro. I had no idea so they gave me a sniff at a bottle and it nearly put me out for the count. So I got that. Then popped into Byzantium to say hello to Tommy and Andrew and buy them a drink towards what they paid for a new t-shirt.
Back at Villa Maria, we went out to the pool where I had a swim whilst V had a frappé. I learned that there was to be a festival of dance in town at 8:30, so we agreed to go there after eating at Jasteri - sea bass for Vera, lamb in plum sauce for me. Tsatsiki starter, Vera had the complimentary large bottle of water and I had two beers. I’m somewhat overdoing the beer this visit.
The first new bus passed us by, full to overflowing. The next packed us in and the folk on the front seat got up to let Vera sit and made me join her. The festival was in the park by the bus terminus so we went and grabbed two seats. And it started to rain. Not heavily, just a few large drops with accompanying rumbles of thunder. So the men took down the electrical gear, microphones etc and we wandered off getting just a few wet splashes and got on an olden days bus back to Troulos. It sound a bit dull, but we’ve actually had a very full and happy day.

Not dull at all ... just perfect, apart from the rude bus driver!

Great to hear your news, you have been busy. We retrieved new suitcases from loft checked holiday drawer , searched high and low for beach bags for some reason in wardrobe 3 of them! Usually forget to pack and have to buy new one. It’s good to hear Vera managing to walk.

Great update, keep ‘em coming.
I’m wondering if the Kamikaze driving has anything to do with there now being two competing bus companies in competition. Or if the ten extra minutes allowed from the extra leg (airport-town) isn’t enough.

Great update, keep ‘em coming. I’m wondering if the Kamikaze driving has anything to do with there now being two competing bus companies in competition. Or if the ten extra minutes allowed from the extra leg (airport-town) isn’t enough. I suspect it's the latter and they are struggling to keep to time. If there's any sort of traffic around town (bottle neck usually around stop 4 acropolis) it will be a push to get from airport to Kouk safely on time if there are a lot of people wanting to get on. Once there are more people on the island there won't be any need for them to 'poach' passengers. They were full last year at peak times during the high season. Island probably not at peak numbers yet though.

Glad to hear you've settled into as much of a routine as possible with Vera's issues. It's all about making the best of the time and sometimes that's simply sitting having a frappe or a beer and watching the world go by.
