Just had a peak at next weeks weather , depending on which site you look at ,it’s either thunder Monday through to Wednesday or light showers Wednesday And Thursday. I know which one I’m hoping is correct. It’s difficult to understand how the same meteorologist statistic can be interpreted so differently??

Isn’t it a question of whether the rope is wet or dry and hanging down or out?

It forecast 3 days bad weather when we were there in July one day and night of torrential rain then next two days were abit cloudy until 11am then back to full sun , it was a nice break from extreme heat. Probably won’t happen

I woke to this forecast with a start this morning, as we're going on Wednesday, due to land at 20:10, so we wont be on the beach, but don't want a skiddy runway.
First full day Thursday, it'd be nice to have a warm welcome.
This morning the Met Office app showed rain on and off on Wednesday, and Thunderstorms & rain most of Thursday. The BBC forecast was less bad, but not brilliant.
As of right now, the Met Office says bright sunshine and no cloud all day Wednesday, and cloud/light rain (40% chance) on Thursday 9:00-15:00, with bright sunshine until sunset at 20:00.
The BBC says thunderstorms 10:00-15:00 on Wednesday, then intermittent sun/cloud on Thursday until 16:00, then bright sunshine.
So the first thing to note is that this has changed in less than 12 hours, and there's 5 days until we go, so I'll be following with interest, but not counting on anything until closer to the time.
Second thing, and I've noticed this a lot, the forecast appears to be a lot more changeable for Skiathos than it is for Huddersfield. I imagine being an island near the mainland is an issue. Also that we to be looking at summer weather, and therefore convection rainfall (dig out your memories of geography lessons), which I believe is harder for forecasters to model.

It’s a suck it and see conundrum, I just hope we don’t regret staying out of town. We’ve visited before with not so good forecast and had a glorious time

The being-an-island thing plays a huge part in Skiathos weather. Weather systems seem to pass through very fast. So many times we have woken in Koukounaries to a gloomy start with a spot of drizzle and decided to head into town, wearing jeans and sweatshirts, and a couple of hours later we are on Pap St in blazing sunshine, sweating cobs (whatever they are)! The reverse also happens, of course

Cobs are lumps of sweat polluted by jeans flavour.

Flight departed Manchester 20 minutes late yesterday, this was reflected in our arrival time into Skiathos. Lots of flashing sky’s to the north of the island over the mountains on our approach. We then waited the longest I can recall for our baggage to arrive, not a major issue just annoying. Although on a package we decided not to use the transfer but to get a taxi to the hotel, usual doubling up of fares, much to the annoyance of the other party. The taxi driver was a character, he said ‘ the island should be quietening after August 19, but this year lots of Italians, TOO many Italians’, he then said this was his last year driving on the island as he’s 68 and has to give his license papers back to the government. upon arrival at the newly renovated hotel, first impression good in reception, friendly welcoming staff. Upon entrance into the room we were both disappointed by its physical size and strange layout, the 50inch tv doesn’t help . Quick unpack then a nightcap at the pool bar. Will give the hotel time to prove itself but so far struggling to see its £200 plus a night price tag. Awoke this morning to sunshine, signs of overnight rain evident, forecast hit and miss, what will be will be, we’ll just adapt to the conditions.

There's a TV in our rooms at VM, but I've no idea if or even how they work. A sign says two channels, but we've never plugged it into the socket.

Lazy day Tuesday, ate breakfast at the hotel, which I have to say is very good. Strolled the short walk to kanapitsa beach, overcast but hazy sunshine and a bit of a breeze. The beach filled quickly, as indicated by the taxi driver , many Italians , it may just be a personal thing but smoking on the beach can be unpleasant if your sat in the proximity. Returned to the hotel early evening to prepare to visit town for a few hours, water taxi surprisingly empty, but a wonderful way to travel. Town extremely busy, stopped for a drink at Mythos before meandering up papadiamanti street, said hello to the folk in Main Street then headed to Artima ,a first for us but excellent food and service. Missed last boat back so caught a taxi, €15 not too bad .

Currently sitting on our veranda watching the sky blacken at a rapid rate, the rumble of thunder prevalent and it’s become blustery. We acted savvy this morning and tracked to the local supermarket to stock up on essentials, wine , beer, cashew nuts and of course oregano crisps. We’re well prepared for the siege, this coupled with the fact our room is right next to the bar ⛈🤣👍

I reckon the only way your day could be improved would be if you also had a view of incoming flights to amuse you. Never mind, beer, wine, nuts, origami crisps and a bar next door will just have to suffice.
